I never understood what humans meant by home was where your heart is‘ til she left. The apartment felt empty without Aurora, so did my heart. I resisted the urge of bringing her back here, I knew she would return to me in due time, however there was this small nagging feeling that said otherwise.

It has only been a day, yet it felt like years without her. What made it worst was the absence of Ryker and Derek. Sure, Derek wasn’t my friend but he was an important figure in the pack. 1 hadn’t realized how much relevance the Slade brothers had become in my life until now, most especially Ryker. Ryker had always been by my side since childhood, this was the first time we had a fallout and I didn’t know if it could be fixed.

Maybe I was better off alone like Aurora said. I was a wreck and I always managed to pull people into my mess. I haven’t visited the pack house, nor gone to the club, I didn’t need to second guess that Ryker hadn’t as well, neither had Derek. Right. Derek was no more part of the pack 

1 poured another shot of whiskey into my glass, but I felt nothing after gulping it down. The always said Alcohol made you forget your worries but it didn’t apply to me. It only made me feel more worst about my situation. I was never a drinker, only did occasional and I never seem to get drunk from it.

I turned my head towards the door when it dinged opened. Was it Aurora? I was surprised to see Ryker storm inside the room with anger written over his face.

“What–I stood from the couch, with the glass in my hand when a punch landed on my face, cutting off my words. The shantering sound of the glass pierced through my ears.

1 hissed in anger, massaging my jaw which stung from his fist. I was yet to register what was happening when I felt another wave of pain shoot through my body. He fucking punched me in the stomach! Right in my wound!

I groaned in pain before falling to the floor. I wasn’t completely healed from the injury Magnus had given me and now, Ryker!

“You fucking bastard!” He snarled, sending another punch to my face. He was obviously pissed, but I couldn’t tell why. Yes, I was in the wrong for killing Layla, but he shouldn’t be this angry. Derek was in the position to fight me.

“This is all your fault.” He accused, his eyes red in fury as he continued throwing his fist at me. I was confused by his words however I didn’t defend myself against him.

He roared in anger before jolting to his feet, running a hand over his head. I stared at the white ceiling, my eyes blurry from his punches and my lips bursted.

“He would have still been alive!” He laughed bitterly, his jaw clenching.

Who would have still been alive? What the fuck was he talking about?

I exhaled before scrambling to my feet calmly. “What the fuck are you talking about?” I snapped, narrowing my eyes. I wiped off the blood from my lips and sat back on the couch with a huff.

“You think you have the right to sit?” He questioned in irritation. I ignored him, leaning into the couch and shutting my eyes.

“You deserve to die, Kaiden.” He said coldly. My eyes fluttered opened when I heard the cocking of a gun. I kept a poker face when I saw him with a gun, obviously a silver gun.

“What exactly are you doing?” I asked calmly, raising a brow.

He chuckled, wiping the sweat off his head. “You killed Derek.” He announced before pointing the gun to my head.

“What?” I asked stunned by his words. He was messing aroual with me right?

“It only you hadist killed Layla, then Derek would still be alive!” He roared bitterly.

Derek is dead!” I asked in disbelief, an unfamiliar feeling tugging my chest. What people called guilt.

He flashed me in mocking smile, before pulling the trigger. I shut my eyes, expecting the pain but it never came instead I heard a trashing sound. Slowly, Lopened my eyes to see him staring at me with a blank expression.

Larched my head back to see the flower vase broken. I was never scared of death, however I had been when he pulled the

“Find yourself a new beta too” He announced before backing away. 1 julied up from the couch, blocking his path before he could step any further

“I’m sorry for everything” I said in sincerity, I wasn’t sorry for killing Layla, but I was sorry for Derek’s death. He was right about it being my fault though I didn’t know the full details of what happened.

“What exactly are you sorry for?” He demanded with a hard gaze. I wanted to say something to comfort him but nothing came out of my mouth.

He shook his head, “You look horrible.” He remarked with a straight face.

“And whose fault is that?” I said sarcastically, stepping back for him to leave. He was over his anger.

“I’m sorry for attacking you like that.” He said in a low tone, walking over the the couch and sitting on it.

I shot him suspicious gaze before joining him. He gulped the remaining drink down his throat and I watched without a word. I sighed before strolling towards my room and taking out another bottle of whiskey I had stashed for emergency like

this. 

This was definitely gonna be a long night.
