Aurora was pissed at me. So pissed that she couldn’t even look at me. She’s been staring into space since she got up. She had every reason to be mad at me, but I hoped she understood I did it to safe her? If I hadn’t killed Layla then she would be the one dead by now and I wouldn’t allow that.

I had to drag her off Layla’s body before she could let go. I knew she wouldn’t hurt me regardless of how much anger she held in for me. I knocked her out when she refused to leave with me.

As for Layla, her body was still in the building. Aurora’s cries had drawn the attention of the servants who properly disposed off her body by now. They didn’t bother asking questions, as though they had expected her demise.

I massaged my neck tiredly, shutting my eyes before opening them and staring at Aurora who curled her body on the bed. I sighed, inching closer to her, and wrapping my arms around her. She stiffened before yanking off my arms angrily.

She chuckled sardonically, slapping my hands away from her thigh. “And her dad? Did he also try to kill me?”

“I didn’t kill him.” I stated with a calm tone.

“Yes you didn’t, but you played a big part in his death. If you hadn’t used Layla as bait for those men, then her dad would have still been alive.” She countered, shaking her head in disappointment.

“And you might have been dead.” I retorted back, feeling no remorse. I would still do it again if I was giving a second chance.

I studied her features and surprisingly found no hesitation on her face. She had either learned how to mask her emotions properly or she really hated me, but it was the former.

“We both know you won’t kill me.” I responded smugly, taking a step forward.

“What gives you so much confidence that I wouldn’t do that?” She crossed her arm, challenging

I laughed triumphantly, snaking my hands around her waist and pulling her closer to my body. She squirmed around. hitting my chest to free herself but my grip only tightened, I ignored the pain that course through my body from her constant attack. I was injured all over my whole body.

“I promise to be more open with you from now henceforth.” I confessed in a hushed tone, kissing the side of her face.

“Starting now” I drawled out, staring into her eyes. “I killed my parents that night too.” I admitted, studying the way her eyes rounded in shock before she quickly recovered from it.

She took in a deep breath before using her whole strength to push me off her. I staggered backwards before falling to the couch.
