Chapter 91

Aurora

I didn’t know what I was thinking jumping in a middle of a fight like that, especially for a man I was supposed to distaste. But seeing Kaiden in such a compromising position pushed me to protect him. I didn’t want him dead and the fight was obviously not in his favor. He undoubtedly came to rescue me.

“Aurora” Kaiden whispered from beside me, pulling me out of my trance. Farched my neck towards him without uttering a word. We were tied to a chair in the dungeon.

“Are you going to keep ignoring my presence?” He asked with irritation etched on his face. I didn’t know what he expected me to do. I was still mad at him regardless of the situation we were in now.

“Don’t you ever jump into a fight like that again.” He warned in a stern voice. I knew how much he hated me involving myself in his business, however this was our business now.

“Okay.” I replied curtly, staring at the closed doors.

“Why didn’t you allow me fight them, love?” He asked in a

“Because you will lose.” I responded curtly, shaking off the feeling of fear I had.

I was surprised they hadn’t proceed with their experiment‘ to uncover my secrets after training my mind to stay calm in the face of danger. I finally realized why when Kaiden made an entrance. They were waiting for something that would made me react naturally almost as though they saw through my plans.

Kaiden chuckled, “Lose?” He repeated, “I can’t lose with you beside me, love. You have the ability to make them feel excruciating pain” He added smugly.

“You don’t get do you?” I shot back angrily, “I can’t hurt them, Kaiden.” I muttered with a regret. I should have stayed put as Mom ordered, then I won’t be here.

“You can’t hurt them or you won’t?” His gaze hardened on my face. “You stopped him from attacking me and you still think you can’t hurt him?” He chuckled in anger, his jaw ticking.

“The plan wasn’t to stop him from attacking, but to kill him however, it didn’t work. He only managed to move an inch after putting much efforts to it. I explained, shaking my head.

“Are you saying they are immune to your attacks?” Kaiden asked cautiously, raising a brow.

“Yes, Kaiden. “I nodded my head, opening my mouth to say more when the door pulled opened and Magnus walked in accompanied by Peter.

“I see you are settled in Peter commented sarcastically with a smile.

“Could you just get to the reason you’re here?” Kaiden snapped angrily.

The reason he hadn’t set himself free from those ropes was because of me, which made me wonder what sort of fools tie up a person with a rope that couldn’t hold him?

“Did I mention you had same temper with Jonathan?” Peter said unfazed by his anger as they drew closer to us.

“You almost injured me badly” Magnus said, changing the subject and looking at me intently as though thinking of what to do with me.

“It’s a good thing we had prepared for her arrival” Peter chimed with a curl of lips.

Chapter 91

“Prepared for my arrival! I thought out loud staring at them with curiosity

Magnus smiled at me, brushing his finger around the corners of my face as he rounded me in a predatory manner.

“Aethera was often referred to as goddess of sorcery because of her abilities and who knows sorcery better than witches?” He asked rhetorically, gripping my shoulders tightly

“You asked them for help?” Kaiden asked in disbelief. It seemed they had some bad blood with witches

Magnus straighten up, walking in front. “I may have asked them for a little something to repel her practices after I hearing her capabilities. He confess with indifference.

“I doubted it would actually work at first, but it did, right?” He shrugged off.

So this was the actual reason Mom warned against going against them. They had fortified themselves which made them

invincible. 

“Since you confirmed I can’t hurt you, then why are you still keeping me hostage?” I asked in confusion

“Because you are still a threat to them, love.” Kaiden responded.

“Exactly!” Magnus clapped his hands, nodding his head. “You’re still a threat until proven otherwise.”

“Why not just kill me and get over it then?” I suggested arching my eyebrow. Though I sounded confident on the outside, I was shit scared of dying.

“Aurora” Kaiden shot me a warning stare, but I maintained a straight face.

If they had really wanted to kill me then they would have done it before he arrived, but they didn’t. Maybe they might actually just want to test my abilities as the claimed:

“Don’t worry, we will. Peter replied with a glint in his eyes.

I looked passed them when I heard the door click open revealing three servants which stood behind the door as though waiting for something.

“Now what you will do is simple Magnus began with a sly smile, glancing at the servants who had looks of fear on their

faces

“I want you to kill them.” He announced, shocking me.

“What I muttered in disbelief. “I should killed them?” I asked to confirm I hadn’t heard wrong. Magnus hummed in response. I looked between the servants and him, feeling a lump in my throat

“She won’t do it.” Kaiden replied on my behave, loosing the rope around him and shocking me by staying out on the chair. 1 guess it was because he was injured to fight anyone right now?

“Let her speak for herself Magnus snapped before staring at me with a pointed look.

“I’m no murderer” I stated, staring at Magnus.

“You want me to set you free right?” Magnus asked rhetorically, and I nodded.

“I can’t set you free if you don’t kill them and proof your abilities.” He informed

1 let out a sharp breath, staring at the servants who were silently begging for their lives. Why did the walk in here when they knew their fates?

“You don’t have to do it, love.” Kaiden said softly, but I could tell he didn’t care about their lives.

“I want to live.” I said to the servants, shooting them an apologetic look before closing my eyes and channeling my thoughts on their deaths

I opened my eyes when I heard their screams of pain echoing through the room. A tear pricked my eyes as I realized what 1 had done. I was slowly turning into a monster just to stay alive.

“Do you care to join the North council?” Peter offered with an impressed smile as he looked at the servants

“Let’s go. Peter Magnus announced with a straight face. He left the room with Peter.

I wanted to scream at them to release me, but I couldn’t find the words right now. They had tricked me.

“It’s okay, love. You can cry all you want.” Kaiden said soothingly, untying me before wrapping his arms around me.
