Chapter 88
Kaiden
“Fuck” I cursed in anger, kicking the chair. I clenched my fist, feeling the urge to punch something, anything. Aurora knows everything and worst, she wouldn’t even let me explain.
1 laughed in frustration, driving my fist through the wall to let out the pent up anger I was holding in, but it barely did anything to ease it. I continued attacking the wall, until a force pushed me back.
“Are you
crazy?” Ryker snapped angrily, staring at me with concern.
“You don’t fucking raise your voice at me. I’m your alpha, not the other way round!” I growled, gnashing my teeth.
“I was your best friend before you became Alpha so spare me the whole bullshit.” He stated with indifference, unfazed my
anger.
I knew I wasn’t actually angry at him, but at myself, I stumbled backwards, leaning into my desk as I stared at my knuckles covered in blood with a dead smile.
“Aurora hates me.” I chuckled bitterly, feeling–my heart clenching ng with the realization.
“I’m sure she doesn’t.” He countered with a pitiful look in his eyes.
“She doesn’t?” I asked with a twisted smile, stand upright “Didn’t you see the void in her eyes when she walked out of this office?” He stayed silent, pursing his lips.
I shook out the thoughts out of my head. All I needed to do was to find her. I know she would try to ignore my existence, but I won’t let that happen. My eyes flickered to the clock and noticing it was late already.
“Where are you going?” Ryker asked as I jolted to my feet.
“I need to find her.” I said curtly, and as if on cue I felt something
Fear. Fear that didn’t belong to me, but to someone else. Aurora is in danger.
“Something is wrong with Aurora.” I announced in panic, quickly pulling the door open with Ryker trailing behind me.
“What’s wrong with her?” He asked in concern as I headed towards my car. I didn’t respond as I felt the emotion get stronger. I couldn’t find her till she called out for me.
I doubted she knew I could find her easily through our mate bond, and if she did, the chances of her actually reaching out to me were low.
I started the car’s ignition as Ryker settled in, driving out of the club with full speed. I didn’t know where to start searching from, but I went to the apartment first with hopes of finding a clue.
I rushed out of the car, not bothering to shut the doors and climb the building’s staircase, the elevator suddenly seeming to slow. I paused at the top step to catch my breathe.
“Alpha Kaiden?” Derek called with surprise evident in his tone. I took a deep breathe, standing upright and staring at him in disdain. This was partly his fault.
I took a step forward, but Ryker was quick to block my path. For a moment, I had forgotten they were family and would obviously protect each other.
“Get the fuck out of my way.” I commanded, but he didn’t bulge.
Chapter 88
“Ryker? What is going on?” Derek was still in confusion. I doubted he had any idea of Aurora’s disappearance,
“Let’s just find Aurora first” Ryker urged with a sigh.
This was probably the second time he was standing against me. First was because of Ariel and now for his brother. I brushed past them both, deciding to focus on the matter at hand which was Aurora.
I slid the keycard at the intercom, pushing the door open. I walked inside the quiet room, searching through each corners of the house, but found nothing. Her belongings were still here which means she didn’t return home.
“Is Aurora missing?” Derek asked stupidly causing my anger to flare up.
“Shouldn’t I be asking you that, Derek?” I snapped, marching forward towards him, but he recoiled quickly
“Kaiden- Ryker interrupted, but I shot him a cold stare,
“You will not interrupt me again.” I hissed, turning my attention to him.
“I gave you a simple task!” I roared with a hollow laughter, my voice cutting through the silence.
“Where the fuck were you when Aurora left this house?” I grabbed Derek’s shirt, forcing him to look at me.
“I was here.” He stuttered in fear. I chuckled darkly, shutting my eyes to control my anger.
“You were here?” I repeated with a mocking smile. “If you were really here as you claimed, then you would have noticed her leave or did you suddenly go blind too?” My gaze sharpened as I tightened my grip.
He shook his head quickly, looking anywhere, but at me. “Better start talking!” I ordered, slapping his face hard.
“I left for an hour to get food. He confessed, his voice cracking as he pleaded for mercy with his eyes.
I nodded, my eyes hardening as I pushed him back and punched his face. He stumbled and fell to the floor.
“I’m sure he’s sorry, Kaiden.” Ryker interceded trying to calm the tension. “Right, Derek?” Derek nodded in agreement, picking himself from the floor
Besides he needed to eat.” He added as a matter of fact, the defiance in his tone undeniably.
I spun around slowly, my gaze burning into his soul. “He might be your brother, but you both answer to me and I have every right to punish anyone that is incompetent in the task assigned to him.” I explained with a tight jaw, trying to suppress my anger,
“And you,” I drawled out, stepping closer to Ryker and dusting invisible dirt from his shirt, “have absolutely no right to interfere, but I will let this slide.” I said with a smile that didn’t reach my eyes.
“I’m sorry.” Ryker replied softly, his eyes lower to the floor. I hummed in response, backing away from him.
Suddenly remembering the tracker on Aurora’s phone, I quickly checked checked for her location through my phone. I knew this wasn’t her actually whereabouts, but it would give a clue of where she was prior at and who took her.
I stormed out of the room, and they both followed behind, using the tracker as a guide. I parked my car by the side of the road, using my phone to find hers which I found on the ground in a dark alley. I crouched down, picking up the phone a stared at the street with slight confusion.
What could have brought Aurora here?
“This is where Layla lives. Derek said in a low tone as though reading my thought.s
Those bastards stalked her, waiting for a perfect time to attack? I stood to my feet wordlessly making my way back to the car.
