Chapter 86
Kaiden
I had managed to recover my strengths after three days, except for my hearing abilities which wasn’t as great as before. Aurora hadn’t noticed anything off probably because I hid it perfectly well and she didn’t know much about my werewolves skills.
I noticed Aurora had taken some part of my hearing, but I doubted she noticed. She probably thought it came along with her powers and I made no efforts in change that notion
I came to the conclusion that since we were mates, it made her able to absorb some of my strengths. It was similar to what happened in the earlier days, before I discovered her uniqueness. She would use my strength to heal herself, but I didn’t notice it because it was a insignificant and painless.
“So you’re saying you can’t hear probably?” Ryker asked cautiously with bewilderment. I explained everything that happened. a couple of days back to him.
“I never said I was deaf, Ryker.” I countered, shooting him a cold stare, “I’m saying my hearing abilities are declining
“But you seem completely normal to me.” He argued, watching me intently.
“Because I can still hear perfectly fine, Ryker.” I snapped, clenching my jaw in irritation.
“I have the sharpest hearing in this pack and even across the North circle.” I boasted and he nodded in response.
“Now it’s just plain. I’m just like every other werewolf.” I sighed in frustration, rubbing my forehead.
“And all this happened because of Aurora?“He arched a brow in amusement and disbelief.
“Isn’t that what I’ve been saying?” I asked, shaking my head unimpressed by his question.
Was he always this stupid or was I too lax on him now?
“And Aurora?” He asked in concern. He was aware of the happenings with the North council.
lie’s home.” I stated, clicking my tongue on my teeth
1 forced Aurora to stay indoors for days now and yes, this was probably a violation of human rights, but it was for her own good. She could still leave the house if she wished, but she wouldn’t get too far with Derek lurking around the building. waiting for her to escape.
“Don’t you think it’s high time you let her know already?” He hinted at the secret I wished to take to bury.
“Can you even hear yourself?” I snapped in anger, raising my head to look at him.
“How do I tell her I was the one behind her mother’s death?” I chuckled bitterly, my eyes darkening
“She may forgive you. We both know how much she loves you” He said reassuringly. “It wasn’t intentional anyways, you weren’t in the right frame of mind then.” He coerced, but I shook my head in dismissal.
“You know how much I hate probability. I will not be saying a word to her.” I declared.
“But if you, then you wouldn’t be scared about her discussion with her mother.” Ryker argued stubbornly, refusing to let go of the conversation.
Fear wasn’t something I felt, but of lately it consumed my heart. Each time Aurora mentioned her mother, I felt my heart beat pick up a pace and my blood run cold with fear. I hated the feeling and this was one of those times I hoped to be the

cruel bastand I once was. That inhumane crazy werewolf who didn’t give a fuck about anyone, but I couldn’t return back there anynsor
“My answer still remains no.” I said coldly. “She doesn’t need to know I was killed her mother”
“You did what?” Aurora’s high pitched echoed through the room. My eyes flickered to the door, watching her march into the
“What are you doing here?” Lasked, ignoring her earlier question. She was supposed to be at home right now.
“Answer my question, Kaiden” She demanded in an angry tone. Ryker chuckled, opening his mouth to calm the situation but she shot him a warning glare.
“What exactly am I answering?” I asked nonchalantly, pretending not to know what she was talking about.
Though I was looked calm, but my head was a mess as I tried to look for lies to cover up the chaos which was about to unfold.
“Did you kill my mother, Kaiden?” She asked cautiously, her eyes pleading for it to be a lie.
“This is where I take my leave.” Ryker announced with an awkward laugh, quickly rushing out of the room like he was being chased by a person.
“How can you even think I would do something like that?” I snapped, feigning anger but she didn’t believe me, neither did 1.
I wasn’t used to covering my lies when I already found guilty of it. My head couldn’t seem to come up with a suitable reason to give her.
“I know what I heard Kaiden, stop trying to make me look dumb!” She snapped angrily.
“Did you kill my mom?” She repeated more firmly, taking a step closer as her eyes burned into mine.
I wanted to deny it and claim she was accusing of a crime I knew not, but no words came out of my mouth. There point of hiding the truth when she heard everything.
e was no
She chuckled bitterly, taking a step backwards when I didn’t utter a word. “So you were that werewolf all along.” She said bitterly with a look of betrayal etched on her face.
“Aurora, please listen to me.” I begged, rising up from my desk. I stepped closer to her slowly, a littkrvdft I was surprised she didn’t flinch back.
“I’m sorry, love.” I said in a low tone, swallowing the lump in my throat when she shot me a death glare,
“What exactly are you sorry about, Kaiden? Sorry for lying to me all this while or for killing my mom?” She badgered, her voice increasing with each word.
“For everything.” I admitted, taking a deep breath, “Yes, I killed your mom and I feel bad about what I did. Shadow was responsible for everything.”
She chuckled in mockery, poking the chest angrily, “But your wolf is still you.” She stated with indignation.
“The picture was so clearly written in front of me, but I missed it.” She thought to herself, shaking her head in disappointment. “How didn’t I see the resemblance between you and that monster?” She said with hatred, staring up at me with disgust in her expression.
She let out a hollow laugh, taking a two steps backward. “You were responsible for my mutism and you knew about it, but you kept it to yourself.”
“I swear I didn’t–1 began to defend myself but interrupted me.
