“Are you there, mom?” My voice echoed through the room. I looked around waiting for her to magically appear.

“I need help, mom” I added in desperation, staring at Kaiden’s closed eyes. I didn’t get any response as I hoped which frustrated me. I pulled my hair in anger, letting out an exasperated laughter.

“This is pathetic.” I hissed, tightening my grip on Kaiden’s hand. “You said you would be here each time I call for help, mom I said bitterly, doubting her words.

“All of it was a lie, right?” I continued my rattling. I had hoped to call on her even when no danger was detected because I missed her. I didn’t think she had just been messing with my head so I wouldn’t feel sad.

“You definitely have a weird way of waking a person.” Kaiden remarked, fluttering his eyes.

flickered to his as a wide smile creeping its way to my face. “You’re alive.” I beamed, letting out a sigh of relief as I rushed over to his side, sitting by the edge of the bed.

“You wanted me dead so soon?” He asked playful, his lips twitching. He sat up on the bed, leaning his back in the bed frame.

“Why do you keep joking about death?” I cried, poking his chest.

He chuckled, reaching out to dry my tears, but I backed away in annoyance. “I felt so guilt that I might have put you in a vegetative state.” I admitted, sniffing as I stared into his eyes.

“I’m fine, love.” He gave me a reassuring smile, but it felt a little amiss. Like something wasn’t right but what was it?

“How do you feel?” I asked in concern, glancing at his face.

“Perfect. Your blood surely works like magic.” He commented with a small smile.

“Yes, love.” He replied, brushing his hand on mine. I got up from the bed without a word, making my way to the door.

Chapter 85

“Aurora” He said in a low tone with a linle concern.

I froze in my tracks, slowly spinning around to look at him. “Yes, Kaiden?”

“Are you okay?” He asked in worry, his eyes burning into mine. I scrunched my fare in confusion

Isn’t that supposed to be my line? He was the one hurt here, not me.

“Why wouldn’t I be?” I asked back, my eyebrows knitting together.

“Do you feel different?” He pressed, ignoring my comment.

“What sort of different?” I asked back, narrowing my eyes in suspicion

He studied my expression, before his face twisted into a smile, “Never mind.” He shook his head dismissively

I wanted to pressed for answers, but I thought against it, hesitantly walking out of the room. Maybe he was just out of it.

Kaiden’s POV

Aurora probably hadn’t noticed the change in her eyes color which was now a darker shade of green. I wondered if it had anything to do with her new abilities.

The reason I asked her to hurt me was to understand how her powers worked, however I hadn’t expected the effects to be so severe. I overestimated myself.

She had a lethal way of ending oneself life. She first drains you of your energy, then use the same energy to end your life. There was a feeling of helplessness that came with it. Like you are drowning under water without the power to help yourself.

The strangest part was how that energy hadn’t returned back to my body regardless of the fact that I was out of danger. Her blood made you stay alive, but it didn’t bring back that lost energy-

I felt like some of my strengths were stolen from me. I didn’t have my sharp hearing ability right now, neither did I feel that raw power which oozes out of my body. I wanted to believe it was a temporary effect and would return with time, but time wasn’t what I had.

She was in danger right now and the last thing I needed was getting weak. There must be a way to quicken the process of

recovery.
