I didn’t think Kaiden would accept to let me move out so easily, but he had become a little considerate than before so I guess it wasn’t strange after all

“You are moving out? Derek shrieked in surprise.

“That’s what I just said” I sighed in frustration. This was the third time I was repeating the same word

“Why?” He asked in confusion.

“Because I want to move out, Derek” I said dismissively, giving him a pointed look.

How was I supposed to tell him that it was because of Ariel! That I was responsible for her welfare now?

“This is because of Ariel right?“he said in annoyance surprising me, “She caused trouble for the pack, and you decided to shoulder the burden like a perfect gentleman?” His voice dripping in sarcasm 

“That’s not what happened.” I argued in denial.

It was a known fact that Ariel had been banished from the pack, but no one knew the real reason. Everyone in the pack came up with different claims, but the most popular belief was that Kaiden casted her out because of his mate.

“I’m not that stupid, Ryker.” He scoffed, “Do you like her that much?” He questioned with venom in his voice.

He disliked Ariel and I understood him. Ariel was quite spiteful. She could go extra miles to get what she wanted.

“Yes, I like her, Derek. I admitted with a twisted smile on my face. “So better tell Mom and Dad about this too.” I smiled sarcastically.

“Now? And you’re just informing me?” He snapped in frustration.

I chuckled, pulling him into a hug, “You can come visiting.” I assured, patting his back before pulling away.

“Really?” He said with a glint in his eyes. I nodded, slowly walking out of his room as he trailed behind me.

Ariel was leaning by the side of my car, waiting for me patiently.

Derek stared at her with narrowed eyes. “Take care of my brother.” He commanded, and Artel smiled at him, nodding her head in acceptance.

“Let’s go, Ariel.” I ordered, walking to the driver’s seat. Ariel got into the front seat, fastening her seat belt over her body.

Derek waved us as I drove out of the pack house, his figure from the rear.

I furrowed a brow, “Why exactly does it sound weird, Ariel?” asked in a serious tone

She bobbed her head. “I know we’re not. She declared coldly, but there was a little sadness in her eyes

“We can never be.” She said coldly, leaning her head on the window.

I chuckled darkly, gripping on the wheels tightly as I tried to keep a stoic face. I may have never confessed my before, but wasn’t I being obvious enough?

“Aren’t you getting out?” I yelled back, arching my neck to stare at her. She pulled the door up angrily, steeping out and banging the door behind her. 

She brushed past me, storming into the building. I shook my head in frustration, trailing behind her closely. She stood at the lobby, waiting for me to lead the way.

“I was starting to think got already had a key to the apartment.” I said sarcastically with a smug look on my face

Her face curved into a frown as she followed into the elevator quietly. We exited the elevator ignoring each other’s presence when it came to stop on the 7th floor.

I stood in front a apartment, swiping the key card on the door. I walked inside the apartment and she followed her eyes roaming around on the decorations in awe.

“It’s beautiful, Ryker.” She beamed at me, opening the rooms. Her smile was contagious, and I couldn’t help but smile.

“Glad to know you like it.” I responded curtly, sitting on the couch.

“Are you mad at me?” She quipped, waltzing to me. “Is it because what I said earlier?”

“What did you say earlier?” I shot back coldly, pretending not to know.

My gaze following her every move. “You know.” she drawled, blinking her eyes, “What I said about us never ending uo together.” She mumbled, sitting close to me.

My brows furrowed in confusion as I tried to find that memory in my mind. “I don’t remember saying that.” I responded innocently,

“But you did.” She insisted, “I can’t remember doing what you accused me of.”

“Why are we talking about Keira right now?” I said in confusion, vividly remembering the memory.

She meant have been clueless about it, but she played a big role in Keira’s death.

Ariel informed the pack council about Keira’s involvement with Torrence pack, and she may have been right to expose Keira, but for years I didn’t see it that way. I blamed her for Keira’s death.

“Because she’s your one true love. You sing her praises each day and get mad at the mention of her name.” She explained with a short.

“Are you jealous?” I teased, my eyes glinting.

“Jealous? Never!” She scoffed, but her reactions said otherwise. She was insecure about Keira even when she was already dead.

“Why exactly can’t we be together?” I changed the topic.

“Because you don’t like me.” She explained with a knowing look.

“I wouldn’t be here with you if I hated you, will 1. Ariel?” I responded sarcastically.

“Keira’s still consumes your mind.” She argued, ignoring my remarks.

“No. Ariel. You consume my mind each day.” I confessed, pulling her into my laps.

“What?” She swallowed, her eyes rounding in surprise.

“I like you, Ariel.” I confessed, pecking her lips before she could respond. “Always have.” I mumbled against her lips, pulling her closer to me.

She moaned into my mouth, rocking her hips on my hard on. “I like you too, Ryker Slade.” She whispered in my ears, wrapping her arms around my neck.

My lips twitched, claiming her lips again as I carried her into the bedroom without the breaking off the kiss
