Kaiden

It’s been two days already and Aurora had still not woken up. I was losing my mind with worry. I didn’t know what to make of her condition anymore.

The news that I almost killed another of mate spread like wildfire amongst the pack members. They were happy with her condition, because they hated the idea of being ruled by a human. Only they didn’t know that she was no ordinary human.

No human could heal the way she did. Werewolves didn’t even heal that fast, and I was certain I had no healing power in me It was all her. It would make sense that she wasn’t entirely human. Her silver hair should have been an obvious sign, but I didn’t think too deep about it.

“Come in.” I commanded, hearing a knock on my door.

Aurora was moved into my room in the pack house, so I could look after her properly. I didn’t trust anyone around her right

now. 

My jaw tightened when I saw Ryker walked in, with Ariel trailing behind him.

“Alpha.” He said boldly, intertwining their fingers together. Ariel hid behind him, but I could still see her. She wasn’t that small to go unnoticed.

“I thought I told you to keep her away from me, and this pack.” I spat out, narrowing my eyes.

Her father’s body was simply buried without showing it to the pack members. Another act of kindness I showed her.

“Yes, you did, Kaiden and that’s exactly why I’m here.” He announced.

I arched a brow in question, “I’m listening?”

“I want to move out from the pack house.” He stated firmly, without a hint of hesitation in his features.

“Why?” I questioned with a edge in my voice.

Ryker has never been interested in moving out before, even when his parents urged him to, and then all of sudden, he wanted to move out? It was obvious because of Ariel.

“I want to live together with Ariel. I’m responsible for her, remember?” He asked sarcastically, using my words against me.

“So what happens to your role as the beta?” I asked, ignoring his remark

“Nothing, I’m still loyal to you. Don’t you trust me anymore?” He furrowed his brow

“I want to trust you, but with that snake behind you, it’s hard to.” Ladmitted with a tired sigh.

I’ve been sitting in same position, waiting for Aurora to wake up

“I’m not a snake. Kaiden.” Ariel defended, standing beside him.

“Then what are you? A chameleon, maybe?” I spat with a sardonic smile on my face.

She gnashed her teeth, opening her mouth to respond but Ryker clasped a hand over her mouth.

“You can trust me, Kaiden. I wouldn’t dare betray you.” He said with confidence that made it hard to still suspect him of betrayal.

I stared at them both. “You’re free to leave, Ryker, but don’t forget you still have a role to play in this pack.” I informed with a piercing gaze

“Yes, Alpha” He nodded in agreement. I smiled at him, waving him off. They spun around, walking out of the door.

Maybe I was overthinking things. Ryker has always been loyal to me since the beginning of time. Even when Keira betrayed our pack he still stayed back, despite the fact they were matez.

It Ariel makes him happy, then I shouldn’t hold them back. I only hope she wouldn’t brainwash him against this pack.

4 turned back my attention on Aurora, combing her hair with my hand.

you think we’ll still be like them after you wake up?” 1 quipped, pressing the free hand on her neck. The bite mark was fully healed.

“Would you would ever forgive me?” I asked, with a sad smile etched on my face.

“If you found out I was responsible for your mother’s death, would you forgive me?” I clarified, though I knew she couldn’t hear me. I wouldn’t want her to hear me.

“Or leave me? Or maybe even try to get revenge by killing me?” I badgered, my head spinning with the possible outcome.

“I doubt you can kill me love, but if you ask for my life then I would give it to you.” I explained like she had really caught up to my lies.

“You would probably try to leave.” I said bitterly, my eyes glinting in something dark.

“But I can’t allow you leave me, Aurora.” I declared possessively, messaging her scalp.

Her fingers moved, causing me to freeze I stared at her face with an intense gaze, but there was nothing that indicated she

awake.

“She’ll forgive you, but not me, I heard a voice in my head.

“Shadow?” I said in shock. It couldn’t be him. I’ve never spoken to him

“Who else do you think it is?” He responded sarcastically surprising me. Shadow had no sarcasm in him, it was always violence.

“How are you.no, how are we doing this?” I said with slight stutter.

“Our mate.” He responded, as though that answered my question.

“What happened to Aurora?” I questioned in panic, checking her body for any sign of bruises.

“Nothing is wrong with her. She broke the curse. That’s why we can speak to each other now.” He announced, and my eyes rounded in confusion.

“What do you mean by she broke the curse? She’s just a human. What powers does she have to break a curse?” I demanded in a cold tone.

“I’m sure you

My gaze lingered on her face, “Looks like we’ll be making a short trip to your hometown soon, love.“I announced with a smile that didn’t reach my eyes.
