Chapter 68
Ryker
Ariel stared at me with different emotions in her eyes after Kaiden left. I hadn’t planned on jumping in between them like that, it wasn’t my intention. I equally had no intentions of challenging Kaiden post to protect her, but I conddn’t stand try and watch her die
1 had mostly convinced myself that I was doing this because we were acquaintance, but I was lying to myself. I felt something for Ariel. I wanted to hate her for selling Keira out to the pack in the past, but I couldn’t
“Are you okay!” She asked in guilt, ignoring my question. Her eyes were glued to the blood on my shirt.
“Was it all worth it?” I asked bitterly, my eyes hardening on her face.
She swallowed, fumbling with her hands as she shook her head in response. “No, Hyker. It wasn’t She confessed with a bitter smile as a lone tear staining her cheek.
I didn’t try to comfort her. I simply just watched her sob silently, trying so hard to keep it cool. She fell on her feet, coiling her body together.
I sighed in frustration, slowly inching closer to her. I crouched to her level, gently patting hair to comfort her.
Slowly she raised her head up to look at me, “He killed my dad, Kaiden.” She choked on her tears.
I shook my head. “No, Ariel. You killed your dad.” I declared coldly, trailing my finger on her face.
“It’s all you, Ariel. Your stupidity and greed is the reason your father is dead.” I continued with venom, and a cruel smile plastered on my face.
I was mad at myself for getting involved in her affairs and I was angry with her for being stubborn, after clearly warning her to quit chasing shadows. I was a little jealous, jealous by how far she was willing to go to have Kaiden
“If you really believed that, then why did you save me?” She asked in curiously, her face wet from tears.
“Are you really that clueless or you’re intentionally acting dumb?” I snapped, wiping the tears from her face.
Couldn’t she read the writings on the wall?
“You saved me so you could mock me, right?” She guessed with hint of anger in her features
“Mock you? You think I will put my life at stake to because I drive happiness from your suffering? Is that how petty you think of me?” I asked bitterly.
“Then why did you do that, Ryker?” She repeated more boldly. “Why did you jump in like that?” She continued, her voice rising with each word.
“What if I had accidentally killed you?” She screamed in anger, pushing me away. I fell backwards with a sly smile on my lips.
“I didn’t know you wanted me to live so much.” I responded sarcastically, trying to hide my true emotions. I was p‘ sed by how concerned she was al

She ignored my comment, inching closer to me. She pressed her hand on the wound on my chest.
hurt you.” She whispered in a low tone, a tear rolling down her cheek and hitting her hand.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt yo
I didn’t feel pain from the wound, it wasn’t that deep. Maybe needed a day to heal but this wasn’t the worst of it.

1 knew this wasn’t about me any more, she was crying about her dad. It made me feel slightly quilty for hila ng her for her: father’s death.
“I didn’t know…” She sobbed, breaking down completely. I pressed my lips in a thin line, wrapping my armor her body.
“You’ll be fine, Ariel” I said softly, patting her hair as she cried into my chest.
“He’s dead. Ryker. She said in pain, purging her hearts out. I killed him.”
“I
“I killed my only family left.” She repeated countless times. I swallowed, feeling my heart clenched from the pain she felt
I carried her in my arms when her sobs quiet down, taking slow strides to my room as she smuggled closer to my chest
I stepped into my room, gently placing her down to the bed and spooning her.
“What will happen to me now, Ryker?” She asked quietly, glancing to up to look at my face.
“What do you want to happen to you?” I asked back, arching a brow
“I’m no longer a part of this pack and will definitely need to leave.” She began in a small voice, “I don’t know if I can live in that house alone. She admitted.
“I’m responsible for you now.” I declared.
She nibbled on her lower lip, “You don’t have to be responsible for me, Ryker.” She responded in a firm tone.
“We shouldn’t concern ourselves with each other’s problems.” She continued with anger itched on her face. “We’re just sex partners
Her words angered me.
Did she think I would go this far just for some stupid sex?
“You know why I saved you.” I responded quietly, trying to suppress my anger.
-Ryker–
“Sex? I could get it from anyone, Ariel.” I cut her off angrily, “Don’t flatter yourself.”
“If you want us to live together, just say it.” I announced sharply, meaning every word of it.
“You would do that? You would leave the pack house and stay with me?” She asked in surprise, her eyes rounding.
“Your life is my hands, Ariel.” I responded coolly, ignoring her question.
She stared at me for what seemed hours, before I pressing her soft lips on mine. I didn’t waste time in reciprocating the kiss. I pulled her closer to my body, grabbing her ass. I nibbled on her lips, intertwining our tongues together and tasting every last bit of her.
“Please make love to me, Ryker. She whispered softly into my mouth, her voice coming off breathless.
1 smiled into the kiss, flipping us around so I could be on top Ariel, always have.
