Ariel
“I thought I warned you to stay away from pack house for a while, Dad.” 1 scolded in hushed tone, pushing my dad into my
“How could I possibly stay away when Kaiden’s mate is still alive?” He argued bitterly, settling on the armchair,
1 sighed rubbing my hand on my forehead, “Exactly why you should stay away!” I snapped in a low tone.
The last thing I wanted was for anyone else to overhear our conversation. Most of the pack members weren’t home right now and the few who were around were too busy to pay any attention to us.
“Your life is in danger here, Ariel.” He said in a soft tone with concern etched on his face.
“You think I don’t know that, Dad?” I shot back, sitting on the edge of the bed.
1 regretted my decision of going after Kaiden’s mate. I was constantly walking on ice each day, scared of when it would break and my secrets would be exposed to everyone..
“Come back home then. You’re the only family I have left and the last thing I wanted was for anything to happen to you.” He persuaded.
“You think I don’t want to? I can’t leave right now because it would alarm Kaiden.” I explained bitterly.
“I don’t care about the stupid Luna status anymore if it will cost your life.” He declared, “I’ll make sure you become Luna of another pack.” He boasted.
“Make me Luna?” I laughed bitterly.
I also cared less about being Luna anymore. I didn’t want to be Kaiden’s or any other alpha’s Luna. All I wanted was to be beta’s bride–Ryker’s bride.
“Yel, isn’t that what you’ve always wanted for years now?” He asked, narrowing his eyes.
I nodded my head slowly, “Yes, but that was because I liked Kaiden. I wanted to be ‘his Luna” but not anymore, Dad.” I announced, staring into his eyes.
He looked slightly taken aback my decision and I couldn’t blame him, I would too if I were in his shoes.
Growing up, I was always fascinated by the idea of Luna because of Kaiden’s mother. She was my role model because she was strong warrior. That was when the whole craziness of being Luna probably began added to the fact I liked Kaiden. And when Kaiden let me play the role, It made me more eager for the title.
“What’s with the sudden change, Ariel? You wanted to be a Luna so bad that you were willing to do anything. Isn’t that why we tried to get rid of his mate?” He badgered with a flicker of irritation itched on his face.
I opened my mouth to respond, but I was cut off by the sudden splintering of the door. We both jolted up from our seated positions, our eyes glued to the broken door. I felt my blood run cold as I saw Kaiden and Ryker standing at the entrance.
I’m fucking dead
“Alpha” My dad stuttered in fear to the cold stare on Kaiden’s face.
There was no doubt he had overheard our every conversation. How are we to escape this?
My eyes flickered to Ryker’s who had an unreadable expression on his face. He was probably disappointed by how far my

desperation took me
My heart thumped against my chest as they approached us slowly. I didn’t want to die, not like this
“I can my dad began, but Kaiden shut him up with a cold glare

“You both know the consequences of betraying this pack, yet you still went ahead to selbus out to an enemy?” He laughed sardonically, his voice dripping with menace,
“How dare you connive with the enemy to kill my mate?” He roared, his voice sending shivers through my heirly but it wasn’t
of desire
“Please-”
“You know how much I fucking hate begging!” He growled, cutting my dad off.
“Don’t ever in your life conspire against this pack again.” He warned in a calmer tone, stunning me
He was never one to show mercy, had his mate truly changed that strong heart of his?
“Thank you, Alpha. I promise to never forget this act of kindness.” My dad said in a rushed tone, bowing his head to show his appreciation
I let out a breath of relief when I saw them turn on their heels, not without making eye contact with Ryker
Before I could process it, a dagger darted to my dad’s neck. I shrieked in shock at the scene before me. My dad choked on his blood, turning slowly to meet my eyes with a smile on his face before he fell to the floor with a thud.
My body trembled in horror as I stared at my dad’s body lying on the cold floor. Slowly, I crouched to the floor, shaking his body to confirm if I wasn’t losing my sanity.
“Dad…” I mumbled with quivering lips, shaking his body more intensely.
“Please stop messing around with me, Dad. I said more louder with a bitter smile..
“Did you really think I was going to let you both go after what you both did?” Kaiden asked sarcastically, with a dark chuckle.
“Wake up, Dad.” Tears rolled my eyes when it finally dawned to me that he was gone.
This is all my fault. If only I had listened to him the first time he asked me to leave Kaiden, if only I hadn’t suggested going after Aurora then he would had still be alive.
I choked on my tears, feeling a lump in my throat. He was gone, and I will join him all soon. Was it really worth it?
“Now it’s your turn, Ariel.” I heard Kaiden whisper. My jaw clenched in anger, the tears drying on my face as I drew the dagger from my dad’s throat on instinct. I didn’t want to die. I scrambled to my feet when I sensed his presence closing up
to me.
His hand reached for my neck and I aimed the blade for his hand. Instead of Kaiden as I expected, I stabbed into something else someone else.
Ryker’s eyes meet mine and I could see the pain in his eyes. I glanced down to see the blade pierced into his skin. I shaky hand from the dagger in guilt taking a step backwards, Crimson red spilled out from the chest as he pulled dagger slowly and throwing it to the floor.

“What the fuck are you doing, Ryker?” Kaiden snapped in anger from behind, but I couldn’t focus on anything apart from Ryker.
He gave me a reassuring smile before turning to face Kaiden and that was when I saw the claw marks on his back. Kaiden

had injured him in attempt to hurt me
“Why did you do that? Do you wish to die? Kaiden growled, glancing at hold on his chest before looking back up at him
“You can’t kill her, Kaiden.” Ryker declared, surprising both me and Kaiden
“What?” Kaiden snapped, raising a brow at him. I knew Ryker was protecting me but I don’t want him to die along with me for openly defying Kaiden’s onder like that.
“You can’t kill her. He repeated in a firm tone.
“She’s a fucking traitor, Ryker. I thought it was just sex?” Kaiden narrowed his eyes
Right, we were just sex partners.
“She did it because she loved you, Kaiden” He accused, and Kaiden laughed sarcastically taking a step closer to Ryker
“So it’s my fault that she joined hands with the enemy, Ryker?” His voice dropped low in a threat.
“That’s not what I meant.” Ryker said in defense probably realizing how his words sounded.
“I don’t care what you meant, Ryker, but I hate being challenged. You are crossing the line and I won’t mind placing you back it. He warned through gritted teeth, tracing his claws along Ryker’s neck.
“I’m sorry, Alpha.” He said meekly, bowing his head slightly before adding, “Ariel has stood by you in all conditions. Yes she made a mistake but can’t you forgive her for it? She did it out of ignorance and stupidity.”
I stared at him in awe. This was probably the first time a person who wasn’t my refamily was standing by my side in the face of death
“Are you sure that’s the only reason?” Kaiden asked, withdrawing his hand as he took a step back
“What more would it be other than that?” Ryker responded coldly and I couldn’t help the clench on my heart.
“You’re right,Ryker. She stood by my side but I never keep traitors around me. There’s no guarantee she couldn’t repeat it.” He informed, glaring at me.
“Make an exception for her. I’m sure she regrets her actions already.” Ryker said, arching his neck to look at me.
“Fine then. But you will be responsible for whatever she does from now on.” Kaiden announced surprising me. I hadn’t expected him to agree so quickly,
I was still going to live.
ever see her close to me again.” He added coldly, and Ryker nodded.
“She’s no longer a part of this pack and I don’t ever want ever in agreement.
“I will keep her far away from you, I promise.” Ryker raised his hand up in acceptance.
Kaiden gave us a once over before exiting the room without a word. The room fell silent after he left and only the sour our breathing could be heard, until Ryker broke the silence.
“Didn’t I fucking warn you to stop, Ariel?” Ryker said angrily, turning to face me with a hard stare on his face.
