I was exhausted from interrogating the servants who were assigned to the kitchen the day Rhea escaped. Yes, Ariel was the major suspect, but I didn’t rule out other pack members.

From the response I got from them, there had no idea about anything. They were equally as innocent as everyone claimed to be. I tortured them just to get answers but still, nothing. They were really innocent.

I groaned in frustration as I reached for Aurora’s door handle, I didn’t know what to expect from her today, but I hoped she would at least talk to me. I hated the silent treatment she was giving me, and I was starting to believe I had stunned her into. silence again.

She was asleep–pretending to be asleep actually, I pursed my lips, walking to her bed slowly. Had I left out the part that we had sharp hearing than humans when I told her about me?

“I know you’re awake, love” 1 announced, standing in front of her. She swallowed, slowly fluttering her eyes open. She stared at me, and I was happy there was no disgust in her eyes unlike that morning after we were attacked.

I crouched down, drawing my lips in a tight line. Ryker said to be patient with her and I was really trying to be, but the fact that she was ignoring my presence pissed

e off. She shut her eyes close when I raised my hand. I ignored her reaction. brushing my fingers on her face.

It reminded me of the first time we met, how scared she was of me and everybody. It seems we were back to those days.

I was trying my best to not get mad but it was getting increasingly hard each day. She was right to react this way, she was scared of my wolf and I equally was. But I didn’t mean to scare her when I shifted, I simply wanted to protect her.

Why didn’t she understand that she would be dead by now if I hadn’t shifted? Why was she only concerned about the fact that I was a beast?

“I’m really trying to be patient with you, love.” I said softly, forcing a smile on my face. Her eyes opened, obviously realizing that I wasn’t going to choke her or whatever thoughts she had in her head.

“But you’re pissing me off, Aurora.” I declared, with a edge in my voice. “You talked to Ryker so why are you ignoring me?” I spat out in jealousy.

Yes, I was jealousy she talked to him like a normal person, but couldn’t do same with me. I’m her mate. I should be the one she could be able to talk to about everything, right?

“He’s also a werewolf like I am but you didn’t react the way you are now.” I said in accusation through gritted teeth.

I might have asked Ryker to come talk to her, but I never expected her to actually engage in any conversation with him.

*So it’s just me you have a problem with?” I added with a dark glint in my eyes. I knew I needed to leave now before I did something I would regret later. She blinked her eyes as she continued staring at me.

I inhaled sharply, clenching my fist. “Aurora” I warned, gritting my teeth. I may not have shifted into an insane beast but the signs were still there.

Instead of responding, she reached for my face surprising me. She traced the curves as my face as though trying to impa….. it on her face.

“I’m not ignoring you, Kaiden.” She confessed, sucking in breath. “I’m just confused about everything right now.”

I was happy she had said something positive to me after pouring my hearts out to her about everything. Maybe not everything–but majority of it. I never mentioned being responsible for her mother’s death, neither did I tell her how I killed people for no reason–instead I claimed it was always for a good reason.

“Do you want me to give you more time to process everything!” I said quietly in a gentleman tone, but we both knew I had no plans of letting her think.

“No” she whispered, removing her hand from my face. My lips spread into a full smile as I scrambled to my feet, moving behind her. I slipped into bed with her, slowly snaking my hand her hand around her waist.

“Relax, love. I’m not going to do anything” I whispered into her ears, feeling her stiffen

I planned on doing everything with her now. I didn’t know if the moon goddess heard my curses about her twisted mind games, but whatever it was I planned to use it to my own advantage.

“I’m still scared of you, Kaiden.” She muttered, her heart racing.

I nodded, burying my head in the crook of her neck. “We’ll take it a step at a time then.” I declared, pulling her closer to my body. She relaxed under my touch, leaning into my body.
