Chapter 61 

I jolted up from the bed, my breathing heavy with beads of sweats dotted on my forehead in dread of the nightmare I had just experienced.

I saw the same monster responsible for my mother’s death in my dream, they were after me, and Kaiden. And Raiden had transformed into a beast, à scary beast.

“You’re awake, love” My neck arched quickly to the sound of Kaiden’s voice, my heart beating fast as my eyes meet his Intense gaze. He was sitting lazily on the armchair, his hands crossed, and his eyes studied me. We were in his room

“Kaiden.” I whispered in relief. Yes, it was all a bad dream. Kaiden was no monster, he was normal like me.

He stood from the chair, crossing the room in two strides. He sat at the edge of the bed, without saying a word and only watching me like a predatory.

“Why are you staring at me that way?” I blurted out with an awkward laughter.

I knew he had the habit of staring, but it was different this time, he was waiting for something but what exactly?

“Do you feel better now?” He asked, pressing a hand on my forehead as though to check my temperature.

“What happened?” My brows furrowed in confusion. All I remembered was being in a car with Kaiden before some thugs blocked our path and rest of my memories blurred from there.

“You fainted.” He stated, removing his hand from my head.

His words set a deep frown on my face. “I fainted? Why did I faint? I questioned in confusion.

His lips twitched in a dark smile, “I’m sure you know why you fainted, love.” He informed with a knowing look on his face. He was hinting at something, something I’m supposed to know

I parsed my lips, searching my head for what I was missing. Right, Kaiden was supposed to be on his business trip by now, but that wasn’t enough to make a person lose consciousness.

After we got attacked by the thugs… Yes, those thugs happened turned out to be monsters, and they hurt Kaiden..

“Are you okay?” I asked in rush, holding his face in between my hands.

He smiled at me, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I’m fine, love.” He assured, gently resting his hand on mine.

There was no way he was fine, I vividly recall how those monsters tore into his flesh, Wait..it wasn’t a dream, it really happened. But Kaiden had turned a beast!

Kaiden was a beast. My hand slipped off his face as the realization hit me.

“You remember.” He said in a low tone, reaching for my hand but I backed away.

My eyes meet his, and images of the monster he had transformed into rushed into my head. A massive beast with glowing eyes fangs, and the claws on his paws. The way he killed those thugs, it wasn’t human. Kaiden wasn’t humi

My face drain from it colors, and my body trembled as I held onto the headboard. “You’re a monster.” My voice cracked from different emotions–fear, hurt and anger.

“Werewolf.” His voice dropped low, his eyes darkened in anger. “I’m a werewolf, not a monster. He corrected.

“You’re a monster, Kaiden 1 repeated, hot tears wetting my cheeks. He lied to me, he pretended to be human when he was nothing more than a beaut

“Just listen to me. Aurora” He demanded with an edge in his voice. I lacked away again, my head hitting the wall but the pain was numb

“Stay away from me I cried, covering my ears. I fell off the bed, crawling towards the door, but he was faster, blocking my path before I could get anywhere.

“Leave me alone” I screamed in fear, scrambling to my feet with difficulty because of how shaky my legs were).

“I can’t leave you alone, Aurora.” He declared with a sinister look on his face. He was far from the Kaiden I knew, he looked like a psychopath right now.

“Please, I beg you don’t kill me.” I pleaded, the tears pouring down as I kept moving backwards.

I knew he had no intentions killing me, he would have done it long ago if he wanted me dead. But it didn’t ease my fears, he was a savage beast after all and could decide to act attack me.

“Why would I kill you, love?” The pet name made me grimace. It was mocking to me, reminding me of how I had pushed myself towards him.

Maybe I was better off with my abusive family. At least they were just like me, they had no fur on their bodies nor any fangs on their teeth.

My back hit the cold wall, and I knew there was no where to run to anymore. He had a menacing look on his face as he stood in front of me.

My heart was pounding against my chest as I clung to the wall like it were my second skin, awaiting my fate. I shut my eyes when he raised his hand, and for a moment, I was certain I was going to die until I felt his fingers brushing my face.

“That bastard fucking hurt you.” He snarled, and slowly I opened my eyes to see the concern in his eyes. Why was he still pretending? 

“I’m sorry I couldn’t heal this one properly.” He said. What did he mean by that? Wait was he the one responsible for the disappearance of my bruises?

“Why are you doing this to me?” I choked out in frustration. I was scared of him, yet a tiny bit of me wasn’t.

“What exactly am I doing?” He feigned innocent.

“You’re an animal and I’m human. We have no connections between each other.” I spat out, and he chuckled in mockery. “We both know we had connections.” He corrected. “Animals can’t do half what I’ve done to your body.” He bragged. “You love me, Aurora.” He proclaimed, “and yet, you claim we have no connections?”

“That was before I found out what sort of despicable monster you are.” I snapped, and he laughed.

“If you keep calling me a monster, then I might start acting like one.” He threatened calmly but you could sense the edge of

his voice.

“I’ll let you process everything, then I will come back.” He announced, creating distance between us both.

With that, he turned on his heels and strolled out of the room. I let out a shaky breath, falling to the floor as I stared at the closed doors.
