Kaiden

I was meant to be at the cottage house by now, but Aurora had better plans for me. She wanted to accompany me to the airport

I was one among the long list of lies I’ve been telling her. 1 claimed to be going for a business trip that would last for a week. In reality. I was just heading to the cottage to handle my madness myself. How I hadn’t turned into a raging beast by noww was still a misery to me. The full moon was tomorrow,

“Is the airport that far? Aurora chirped, crinkling her face.

““Just a little.” Í responded, glancing at her quickly, before turning my attention back on the road

The airport was in Redville which was an hour away from the apartment. Though I had no plans of traveling, but I needed to make it look believable.

“I didn’t know Redville shared the same airport with Ravenwood.” She whispered, glancing out of the window

“Now you do,” I stated curtly, glancing at the rearview mirror. My jaw hardened staring at two cars trailing closely behind us.

I had noticed them since we drove out of the building, but I wanted to be sure they were really following me. They didn’t bother being discrete about it, it was evident that whoever was behind those wheels wanted my attention.

“What’s wrong?” Aurora asked in concern, noticing the change in my mood.

“Nothing, love.” I responded calmly, forcing a smile on my face to ease her.

“Each time you do this..” She trailed off, demonstrating my signature stoic expression. “it means you’re angry.”

I chuckled in amusement. “You know me too well.” I replied, picking up the speed. There was no way I was letting Aurora return back on her own.

Aurora screamed in panic, clutching to the seat belt, “I know you’re pissed, but I don’t want to die!”

1 chuckled darkly, “Don’t worry I won’t let you die, love.” I reassured, checking my rearview to see them speeding up to catch up with me.

I need to lose track of them quickly. I made a sharp turn to the other side of the road.

Aurora shrieked from the side, the color draining from her face, “Slow down, Kaiden!” Her eyes widened in horror and her voice cracked.

I ignored her words, my grip tightening on the wheels. Her safety was important at the moment. I took another turn down the path, accelerating to the maximum speed to lose them completely.

Aurora screams filled the car, and her pleads which sounded like music to my ears. I glanced at her briefly, noticing a lone tear on her face.

For a second, I had believed I lost them, but I was wrong. They bursted in front of us, and I had to step on me from colliding with them.

“I’m scared, Kaiden.” Aurora mumbled weakly, recovering from the impact. She stared at the cars in front of them, “do they want something from us?”

“You have nothing to be scared of, love. I’m here right?” I reassured, catching the tear threatening to fall.

My lips to curl up in a mock smile. “They won’t.” I said boldly. “Stay in the car, and don’t fucking coming out.” I commanded in finality.

“Kaiden!” She screamed, but I was already outside, shutting the doors behind me.

My blood boiled as I approached Luke, who wore a smug look on his face. “What’s the meaning of this, Luke?” I spat out coldly, I was only being civilized because Aurora was watching.

“You should know better, shouldn’t you?” He retorted in mockery.

I knew exactly what he meant, and what this was about. I took his bride, and he was here to collect Aurora.

“Enlighten me.” I smiled at him, feigning innocence.

“You took Rhea, and you refuse giving her back. You also killed my beta–Owen, so it’s only fair I return the favor.” He said

in rage.

“Do you believe you can do that?” Lasked with a darkened eyes, my voice dropping low. “Can you really return the favor without a scratch on your body?”

“You forget your mate is human. I might not be able to hurt you, but I can do a lot of harm to her.” He threatened, pointing at Aurora.

As if on cue, more of that old crook’s men arrived, clearly to help Luke bring back his daughter.

“You will need to pass through me to get to her.” I snarled, balling my fist and preparing for the inevitable fight.

“Kaiden?” Aurora’s small voice rang through my ears.

I turned my head towards her direction, to find her standing beside the car. “Didn’t I fucking tell you to stay inside?” I snapped angrily.

Were humans this stubborn or it was just her?

His eyes flickered to anger, recovering his composure. “Now I’m pissed.” He announced, and I chuckled mockingly.

“That makes us both.” I positioned my body for a fight. I could only rely on my combat skills right now.

He chuckled in amusement before nodding to his men to attack. They lunged at me all at once, each slicing their way through my flesh with their claws.

I heard Aurora gasp from behind, but I couldn’t tell if it was from the way the way the rummaged my skin or their forms while doing so

“This is so priceless to watch.” Luke laughed smugly, leaning on his car. I crumbled to the ground, unable to withstand the pain they had inflicted on my body.

“Let’s see how long you can hold out,” Luke remarked, nodding to one of his men to capture Aurora.

“No, stop.” I ordered, scrambling to my feet, but Luke kicked me back downL

I groaned in pain, gnashing my teeth in rage. It took everything in me to not kill all of them, because that was exactly what he aimed at. He wanted to piss me off so I could finally reveal self.

“Your mate is pretty, don’t you agree?” Greg cupped her face, while one of his men held her. She was trembling in panic, her eyes darting between me and Luke. Her breathing was heavily, struggling to remain calm, yet her emotions betrayed her. 

His men surrounded me, patiently waiting for another command.

“Are you scared, little human?” Luke mocked, digging his claws into her face. Her eyes shut in pain, biting her lips hard till it drew blood. She was trying to not make a sound, but I could hear her cries in my head.

prettier when scared” He complimented darkly, digging deeper into her flesh. She cried in pain, and it snapped something inside me.

“Don’t fucking touch her.” I roared, shifting to my wolf form.

Luke’s men backed away in fear but it was already too late. I sprinted towards them, my paws slashing into one of their skin. They scattered around the area in an attempting to run, but I chased after them like a crazy beast.

My teeth tore into another of his men flesh, biting my way through down while he screamed in agony. I continued my attack on every one of them until they were all dead with only Luke standing tall

Aurora looked mortified. She didn’t make a sound just like earlier but it was worst. There was no color in her face, only her eyes which bulged into my wolf’s red ones.

I took a step closer towards them, but Luke smirk loosening his grip on them, and dashing to his car in a speed of lightening I made move to chase after him but I suddenly remembering Aurora whom was here with me made me think otherwise,

I shifted back to my original self, stuck to a position as I studied Aurora We held each other’s eye was frozen in time.

“Aurora–I started, crouching to her level, but she cut me off sharply.

“Stay away from me.” She repeated continuously, scooting away from me before she finally lost consciousness.

I smiled bitterly, inching closer to her unconscious body, and scooping her into my arms. “I can’t stay away from you love”
