Chapter 59
So I’m dating Derek now” Layla spirales, her excitement written heldly on her face
“Congratulations, I guess” I said with a grin on my face. They both adored each other so it was no surprise
“And he’s log to Aren’t I just lucky?” She added with a dreamy look on her face. This was definitely something Layla would
way
“I did not need to know about your sexual life. I reprimanded playfully.
“You should have seen the way he slammed into me. She trailed off, shutting her eyes and meaning from the dirty image the probably framed in her head
“You’re annoying grows.” I hit her with a pillow
“Can you blame me? I’ve not had sex for a while now” She defended, and I shook my head in slight amusement
“Do you plan to move in with your mom like she suggested?” I asked, steering away
from the conversation
Her brows creased together like she heard the most absurd words. “Like hell I would. She suddenly wants to play the world best mom after years.”
Her mom had discovered Layla’s dad passing on a couple of days back, and since then she’s being insistent on Layla moving in with her family.
“Maybe she finally wants to make amends for being absent in your life.” I offered meaningful, and she shoot me a glare.
“Well I’m not interested” She scoffed
“Just give her a chance huh?” 1 persuaded, tugging on her arms but she shook her head in disapproval
“Would you forgive your family if they came begging?” She asked in a serious tone.
Her question cut me off balance. I’ve never thought of my family in that light. How I would react was beyond my control however forgiveness was far from it
“Exactly, Rory. You wouldn’t forgive them, so don’t ask me to her.” She said dismissively, taking my silence as a response to her question.
“Don’t you at least want to know your brothers?” I asked.
“I do. I’ve always wanted a younger brother. She admitted, and I nodded with a small smile.
“You have your answer then. At least your mom never abused you right?” I asked with a weak smile.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have brought up your family.” She gave me an apologetic look, squeezing my hand.
“It’s fine. I’m not offended.” I waved off, forcing a smile on my face. I was not offended by her comparison, but was rat” reminded of their cruelty. The scar on my body was a testimony to it
“How about Mr Thane?” She asked, changing the subject.
“He went to his family home.” I responded, and she stared at me in confusion.
“He has a family home?” She asked in surprise, and I hummed in response.
Chapter 39
“He didn’t fall from the tree, you know,” I said sarcastically. I had offered to go with Kaiden, hun he rejected the idea. I didn’t quite understand why he was being so protective over the house
“I know he didn’t, but you’ve talked about his family before She argued.
That was because he had none.
“Maybe your boyfriend would know Kaiden’s family better than I do since they lived together.” I stressed on the word boyfriend to tease her just like she always aloes to me
“Are they related too?” She asked, her eyes widening slightly
“They are not.” I stated briefly. It was the most obvious question “And what do you mean by to
tour
“You also had no idea that Derek is Ryker’s brother? She revealed, and I blinked my eyes in surprise.
“They have no resemblance to identify them as brothers” I said in defense.
“Same thing I said. They are the complete opposite of each other, though they’re both nice” She said, and I nodded in
agreement
I didn’t quite understand Kaiden’s relationship with either of them. It was sensible to assume they were all childhood friends, but why would they all live in his family house? Didn’t they have families? Something wasn’t adding up
I felt somewhat paranoid knowing Ariel also lived in same space with him before he moved here. It means he would see her each time he went there, and 1 definitely didn’t feel good about it.
Kaiden was leaving for one of his business trips again, so he wanted to ensure everything was in place before going
“Rory?” Layla waved her hands in front of me, snapping me from my thoughts.
“What?” I asked harshly, and she gave me in pointed look.
“I don’t know what you’re thinking of, but it’s not real,” She reassured, and I found myself laughing at her words. Layla’s right, Kaiden belongs to me now, and I had no plans of letting anyone snatch him away from me.
“Derek wants me to meet his parents.” She announced with a gleeful smile.
“Really?” I squealed in disbelief, and she nodded trying to suppress her excitement.
“Yes, Rory. I think it’s a big step–meeting your boyfriend’s parents,”
“It is.” I whispered in agreement. I was excited for her yet a little worried.
“Don’t you think you’re moving too fast with Derek?” I asked in concern.
I knew nothing about relationships, but she literally just met him weeks back and now they’re planning on meeting parents? “Same thing I thought but I really like him, and he feels same for me too.” She assured, “That’s all that matters right?”
I bobbed my head with a hesitant look on my face. Derek had no bad intentions towards her but after what happen Owen, I learnt to trust people less,
“Since you both like each other that much, then it’s fine.” I said in defeat.
Layla’s eyes lit up in happiness, “I think I need to go shopping for new clothes. She announced, and I rolled my eyes.
