Chapter 55
Kaiden
I walked into the pack house with tight jaw. My eyes burning into the faces of the pack members which acknowledged my presence with fear on their faces.
Each time I wore this expression on my face, I was in a pissed mood and they knew better than to set me off. I ignored their greetings, turning to Ariel’s room. I pushed the doors open, and she jolted up to her feet in surprise at my entrance,
Her lips curved into a sly smile, as her eyes fixed on me. “I knew you- She started smugly, but I cut her off by snuffing the air out of her lungs.
“I can’t breathe.” She choked out, struggling to get my arms off her neck.
“I don’t care, Ariel” I responded coldly, my hands tightened on her neck. Her face went aghast, trying to desperately hard to keep her eyes open.
“I do not entertain people playing mind tricks on me for some stupid ambition that will never come to pass.” I began slowly, and she nodded, a tear falling from her eyes.
“The next time you endanger Aurora again, I will make sure you don’t breathe any longer,” I threatened, my voice dropping low.
I let go of her neck, and she stumbled back slightly, “I didn’t endanger your mate.” She coughed out, trying to catch her breath.
“I don’t care if you did it or not, Ariel. This is my final warning” I wamed, my gaze sharpening in anger.
There was no proof that she was the one who sent that message to Aurora, but she was the only person I could think of. because she just happened to be that desperate. But if she somehow happened to be innocent, then it was a warning for her in case she ever entertained the thought.
I walked out of her room. Derek’s steps falling behind mine as I made my way into the hall.
“Gather everyone in the hall now,” I growled out, and he gave me a subtle nod before hurrying off to relay my message to the pack members.
I sat on my throne, watching as the pack members slowly walked into the hall, one after another, fear and confusion written on some of their faces. It was umisual for me to hold two meetings in a row,
Derek and Ryker entered the hall last, shutting the door behind them before standing beside me on the podium.
“You’re probably wondering the purpose of this meeting?” I started rhetorically, rising to my feet as my gaze swept over their faces
“There’s probably been a lot of whispers about what happened yesterday.” I drawled out, a sardonic smile spread across my face.
“Some may have questioned my responsibility as Alpha yesterday” I added, letting out a dark chuckle. They mumbled. amongst themselves.
“Silence,” I roared coldly, glaring at each of them. Their lips sealed shut, and the hall fell pin drop silent.
I inhaled in satisfaction, the scent of their fear bringing me utmost joy. Good to know they still remembered what I’m capable of.
“I’m here to address some of your concerns” I stated curtly. “starting with the human girl you saw yesterday,”

Chapter 55
“She’s my mate” I declared boldly. The defiance on their faces was visible they were angry at my declaration, yet they could do nothing about it
“Are you saying g you won’t kill this one like the others?” One of the pack members asked, his voice cracking in fear.
My eyes flickered to him. “Do you wish for me to kill her?” I shot back coldly.
I couldn’t see myself ever hurting Aurora, and if staying chaste forever was what it took to prevent it, so be it
My question shut him up but the dissatisfaction on his face was evident.
“She is unaware of our kind, and I would like for it to remain that way until I say otherwise.” I stated firmly, turning my attention back to the crowd.
“How about Ariel?” Another bold fool spoke up. My eyes burned to his face, and it took almost everything in me to stop myself from hurting him.
“What about her?” I asked feigning curiosity.
“She has been our Luna for years now. Do you plan to toss her aside because of a common human?” He asked bitterly, his disgust for Aurora showing on his features.
“Your luna?” I laughed mockingly, “Did I ever pronounce her as Luna?” I asked coldly, my feet moving on it on its own accord towards the bold idiot.
ou didn’t, but she has been acting as our Luna for years, and she plays her role well.” He argued meaningfully.
“No you
“But she is not my Luna, neither is she yours.” I declared firmly, stopping in front of the idiot.
His lips sealed shut when I stood close to him, and suddenly his confidence vanished.
My hands itched to connect with his face, but I controlled myself, clenching my fists before turning back to the podium.
“Ariel is not your Luna,” I repeated firmly, “and she will never be.” I added coldly, scanning the room for any sign of her, but she was nowhere to be seen
She’s probably still recovering from nearly being choked to death
“You’ll treat my mate properly, and never mention our true nature to her.” I said smoothly.
There was no point in hiding her any longer. They already knew her existence, and would be probably seeing her around. more often than before. I would finally grant her wish of going to work with me.
“But she’s just human.” The first idiot from earlier countered with a grimace.
“So what if she’s human?” I challenged daring him to speak.
I knew how difficult it would be for them to accept Aurora, but I wasn’t asking–they had no choice but to accept her.
“Humans are weak, and your mate looked even more fragile than the other humans we’ve met. There’s no way she could ever lead us. The second idiot argued bitterly, gaining few supporters.
I shut my eyes in an attempt to mute their murmurs of agreement, but it didn’t work. I was trying really hard not will more pack members, but they just had to make it incredibly difficult.
Before I could stop myself, I reached for my dagger and swung it towards him, the sharp tip slicing into his neck. He pressed a hand on his neck, trying to stop the blood from gushing out. I watched in delight as he fell to his knees, choking on his
own blood.
