Layla spent the whole day with me in the hospital, though the doctor said I could be discharged but I was kinda waiting on Kasden to retum. I was a little too scared to go back home on my own
My eyes flickered up to the hospital door as it turned open. As if summoned by my thoughts, Kaiden walked into the room
with a stern expression.
“Mr Thane.” Layla greeted in a low tone, raising her head from my thigh. She was weak from all the crying.
He glared at her, “I don’t remember you being sick He growled out and I shot him a glare.
“Kaiden“” I warned. How could he be mean to her right now when she was grieving her dad?
“What? I’m not wrong here” He shot back and 1 huffed in annoyance.
“She just lost her dad. Kaiden. The least you could do is sympathize with her. I informed, meeting his eyes.
“I think I should go.” Layla announced, picking up her bag from the chair.
“Thanks for letting me see Kaira.” She mumbled as she wi
e walked past
him.
“Layla, wait.” I called out, standing from the bed, but Kaiden held me back.
“Let her be. Aurora.” He
le commanded with a tight jaw. I watched her disappeared into the hall with anger brewing in my heart
“Why are you being mean to her?” I demanded angrily, pushing his arms away from me
“I told you before Aurora, I’m only nice to you.” He responded nonchalantly, sitting on the bed.
I chuckled bitterly. “Don’t tell me you’re being mean to her for my own good as well?” I asked sarcastically with defiance,
He hummed in response, shutting his eyes. “It is,”
I glared at him in anger, “Are you possibly blaming Layla for what happened?”
His eyes flew open, staring into mine. “Shouldn’t I?” He asked rhetorically, jolting to his feet.
“Of course you shouldn’t. She’s passing through a lot right now. You shouldn’t ‘t make her feel worst about herself” I scolded as he approached me, stopping right in front of me.
He didn’t respond, instead he snaked his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. “Getting scolded by you like this isn’t bad at all.” He whispered, his expression softening.
I swallowed hard, staring into his predatory eyes. He pressed his lips on the side of my face, his hand grabbing on my ass roughly. I sucked my breath when I felt his lips around my neck.
“Til definitely make you forget it all.” He mumbled against my skin, the vibration sending a shiver to my spine.
My legs felt weak and my body hot from his words. It was a promise and I couldn’t help but anticipate it.
“Let’s go home, love.” He said softly, pulling back, his eyes darkened with desire.
I wanted to asked him about his earlier confession. I wanted to asked him if he was messing with my head again and if not, then why was he holding back?

LAYLA POV
I gripped on my handbag tightly as I strolled home after leaving the hospital Icond referstand Me Thane’s anger towards me, but I didn’t expect him to be that mean to me, considering he was the one who informed me she was bark Maybe he was having a bad day

I heard heavy footsteps behinil me again, and I spun around quickly to see two men stalking behind me. My heart raced in
Maybe they lived in same neighborhood as me. I tried to think positively but it did nothing to ease my racing heart. Without thinking, I made a run for it, and chased me down the streets.
They were stalking me after all!
I attempted to cross the other side of the street, but I ran out of luck when I stumbled on my own foot, falling in the middle
of the road.
1 tried to get up but they caught up to me, blocking my path.
“Are you an athlete? Because you run like really fast,” One of the men–the slimmer one complimented, catching his breath
I was no athlete. I just enjoyed jogging but I didn’t respond of course. I was too scared to even look at their faces right now. looked down at my twisted ankle, my heart beating out of my chest as I prayed for some sort of miracle.
“You’re quite pretty, no wonder he’s obsessed with you.” The other fatter man complimented, using the blade of his knife to raise my chin up.
“I think you have the wrong person here.” I stuttered, my voice trembling in fear as I felt hot tears streaming my cheek.
I had no one obsessed with me, I was simply a girl grieving her father’s death!
“What do you mean the wrong person?” The slimmer man sneered angrily and I flinched back. “You are the crazy alpha’s
woman.
Crazy alpha? Was he by chance referring to Mr Thane! Seems they were after Rory
I was scared for my life but I couldn’t throw her under the bus like that, not after what she passed through, instead I nodded in agreement.
They both seemed happy with my response, their eyes glinting in happiness. “He said to bring you untouched but the urge to have a little fun with you is tempting” The fatter one said, licking his lips as he stared at me lustfully.
I resisted the urge to flinch in disgust instead, I kept a fake smile on my face while thinking how far I could run in my state.
My thoughts were caught off when a car came speeding towards us, the light blinding my eyes and for a second, I was certain this was my end, not until it stopped right in front of me.
A sharp breath of relief escaped my lips, too stunned for words.
“What the fuck?” The men who were after me yelled in anger, marching towards the driver. However the driver’s door

“You guys were bullying a girl?” He asked coldly, his eyes still locked on mine.
“No, yes.” They stuttered, backing away from him as though he was fire, Was the man that fearful
“Did your alpha send you to get his woman?” The fatter man asked keeping a strong facade
“His woman?” The grey eye man, repeated in confusion breaking eye contact with me “I never knew Alpha Kaiden had another woman other than Ariel” He commented more to himself than to them
So he was Mr Thane’s friend then?
“Since you know she’s Alpha Kaiden’s woman you still try to touch her?” He asked with slight amusement, “Do you wish to die?” He asked them and just like that, they both disappeared, running off the streets.
He approached me slowly, my heart pounding out of my chest as he got closer.
He crouched down to my level, “So you’re Alpha Kaiden’s woman?” He asked in amusement with a smile.
He stared at my ankle for a moment, before scrambling up to his feet.
“Please don’t leave me here, mister.” I said in panic, watching him walk towards his car.
He chuckled, turning to look at me. “I had no plans of leaving. You’re our alpha’s woman after all.” He responded, and I couldn’t help but sense the sarcasm dripping from his words.
