Kaiden

“Going to work?” Aurora asked chirpy, standing in front of me. She had been a lot brighter of lately since we established some sort of bond and it was quite contagious..

“Yes, love.” I responded softly, adjusting my neck tie as I stared at the mirror, from above her head.

“Let me help you.” She offered, reaching for my neck. My lips twitched, staring at her raised feet but then again, I was way taller than she was, she was like an ant compared to my size.

I bent to her level, so she wouldn’t strain her feet. “Are you by chance calling me short?” She asked playfully, her lips curving. in a small smile.

“You are short, love.” I responded curtly in a light tone.

“I’m not! I’m still growing” She defended quickly, her hands dropping to the sides as she took a step back to admire my look.

“And here I thought you were offended by the word growing?” I asked sarcastically, snaking my hands around her waist to pull her closer. To be fair, she was done growing, she was already twenty

“Well.” She trailed off, when I pressed my nose on her neck, inhaling her intoxicating scent that I couldn’t get enough of.

“Yes?” I pressed further, my lips brushing her sensitive neck intentionally to tease her.

“Kaiden.” She mumbled softly, her body shivering from desire as 1 grazed my teeth on her neck. 

I loved the way she reacts to my touch, her reactions drive me crazy and it took everything in me not to fuck her as I pleased. I pull away promptly, swallowing the urge to bury my fangs into her neck and mark her.

“Don’t let anyone in, most especially Owen I ordered, straightening my body, my eyes locked on hers.

I hated leaving her but I wasn’t left a choice. I was an alpha, I had a pack to control and I have been away for quite too long.

“Owen is of no harm” She defended mindlessly, angering me. She knew nothing about the world she was in, was way too trusting and there’s no doubt she could easily get killed.

“Just do as I fucking said!” I snapped, causing her to finch backward, not expecting it my sudden outburst. Without another word, I walked out of the apartment, slowly strolling to my car

“Good to see you back, Alpha” Derek exclaimed as I walked in, with a glint of sarcasm in his speech.

“You might be Ryker’s brother but we are not buddies and I won’t hesitate to put you in your place.” I growled out in a low tone, pausing in my tracks to look at him.

“I’m sorry. Alpha.” He apologized quickly, slight fear written on his face

I glared at him briefly, before walking into my office. The only reason I had let hur off so easily without as much punishing him for disrespecting me was because he was Ryker’s brother.

Ryker soon strolled into my office with a stern expression that matched mine, whenever I was dealing with werewolves or other humans that weren’t Aurora

“Alpha” He greeted standing in front of the desk. “Glad to see you’re okay now.”

“You wished I died?” I asked sarcastically in a serious tone that make it hard to notice it was a joke.

His eyes widened at my accusation as he raised his hands up in defense. “Of course not, Kaiden!” He responded sharply.

I chuckled at his expression. “I was just joking. Ryker. You don’t need to get so worked up.”

His eyes only seemed to widen even more at my declaration, “You were joking?” He asked in disbelief.

That’s what I said.” I hissed in irritation.

“Since when do you crack a joke? What the fuck has Aurora done to you?” He asked with his mouth agape.

Only then did it actually register in my head. I was Kaiden Thane and I don’t smile at people, neither do I spare people who act ignorant or disrespect me. What the hell was Aurora doing to me?

“Well I guess that’s what love does to people.” Ryker concluded with a smile.

“Why are you here?” I growled out with a stoic expression, every atom of playful wiped off my face.

“The Moon blood pack has been making a move of lately.” He informed drawing my attention, causing my jaw tightened with anger Moon blood again?

“The alpha of Moon blood pack happened to visit the Torrence pack days back.” He explained, taking my raised eyebrows as permission to speak. It was no crime for packs to meet up but it was when it concerns meeting the Torrence pack–our rival pack

“What did they talk about?” I asked, my voice dropping low in anger

“I can’t possibly know that now” He shrugged sarcastically and I shot him a warning glare even though he was right. He could only as much as know their visits, not the reason for it but I cared less.

Moon blood pack were probably plotting treachery with them because I killed their former beta’s mate. Moon blood pack looked after each other than any other pack did, so it was no surprise they take up the matter. I had wondered why they hadn’t made a move on Autura since they knew about her existence but now it seemed all clear to me. They wanted support from other packs

-You may leave now.” I commanded dismissively, my jaws ticking in rage.

He gave a curt nod, turning to leave suddenly paused as if remembering something “Did you forget something? asked coldly, with a raised eyebrow

“Actually, yes” He admitted, purung his lips possibly trying recollect his memories, whilst I stared at him irritated. “Well I found out more about Rory’s mother.” He finally said, catching the attention.

“What did you and out?” I asked sharply, my hands already tingling with the urge of burying it on the bastard’s neck who caused Aurora such trauma..

“Her mother was truly killed by a werewolf” He started stating the truth I was already aware of. “The news made quite the headlines. The wounds left her body were from the claws of the wolf, and I have to admit, the wolf is a lot crueler than you are in forturing” He explained, amusement dripping in his voice.

“Much crueler than mine?” I repeated, my jaw tightening than it already was. I didn’t know if to be amuse there was another wolf crueler than I was

Irritated that

“Yeah, they had called it an animal attack but only a werewolf like me would know it was no animal” He said and I nodded taking in the information.

“Can I see the pictures of this cruel–some murder?” I asked with a bit of sarcasm because I didn’t completely believe his

Ryker pulled out his phone from his pocket, scrolling through it then placing it on top of my desk. I grabbed the phone, staring at the image of a woman’s lifeless body scarred with blood and bruises beyond recognition.

It was no wonder Aurora was traumatized by her death.

“Though I do think the scars look similar to Shadow’s.” Ryker quipped from the side with uncertainty,

My lips curled darkly, because he was right. It looked like something I did—Shadow actually but my memories and Shadows were apart like two different people so I couldn’t tell if it was really done by me. I could only remember bits of anything that happens when Shadow takes over.

“Where did this happen!” I asked, my eyes glued to the image on the screen.

“Grave forest.” He responded calmly, causing my breath to get caught in my throat. It couldn’t be, could it?

“When did this happen?” I pressed for answers, my eyes flicking to Ryker’s who stared at me with slight confusion.

“7 years ago.” He responded curtly and I growled at him for a more precise answer.

“July 15th.” He clarified. July 15th? That was the same day I had killed my parents after going amok. It also happened in Grave forest which was the boundary between Ravenwood and Redville.

“There was a full moon that day right?” I asked for confirmation and he nodded slowly, taking in the expression.

I stared at the image once more, my heart filled with bitterness. The depth of the wound, the bite marks on her body. It was me after all I was the monster who caused Aurora pain. 

“I killed Aurora’s mother.” I whispered, the words tasting bitter in my mouth. I didn’t care about her mother, the fact I hurt Aurora was what drove me insane. 

“What?” Ryker asked with wide eyes, trying to process my words.

I chuckled bitterly. “I’m the monster, Ryker. I’m the bastard who caused Aurora’s pain.”

“And here I thought you couldn’t get anymore pathetic but this is definitely very interesting.” Ariel’s voice cut through the room as she stood by the doorframe staring at me with smirk.
