My throat felt dried, the smell of drugs and antiseptics, filling my nose as I stirred awake. The first thing I stared at was the bright fluorescent light pointing into my eyes. I was in the pack’s hospital

“Ariel?” I heard from beside me, the voice clearly my father’s. I turned to see him staring at me with so much concern.

“Dad?” I whispered, my voice cracking from the dryness. I tried to sit up but he stopped me with his stern warning

“Just lay still, Ariel” He said dismissively, but I was stubborn as always, persisting as my entire body ached from pain as ! forced myself up

“Very stubborn.” He commented sternly and I chuckled.

“I take after you, so deal with it. I retorted back, “How long have I been out?” I asked.

“A week plus.” He responded curtly, and I nodded. That explained the dryness in my throat,

“Where’s Kaiden?” I asked sharply in panic, looking around for any sign of him, vividly remembering shooting him with a

silver bullet.

“He’s fine.” He assured, and I breathed out in relief.

“Where’s he?” I asked in curiosity but my father stared at me with mock smile.

“He left, of course.” He informed, the mild jab hurting more than I let on. Of course he already went to that slut. What had I expected?

“He hurt you and didn’t even bother to stay with you even for a second!” He said, his words like daggers to my already bitter heart, “But you are just so blind to see how unimportant you are to him.”

“I love him, Dad. You know that better than anyone.” I confessed honestly, ignoring his taunt

He sighed, pressing his hand on my gently, “I know you love him and that’s why I went out of my way to support him. because I believed with time he could come to love you, but his heart is still as hard as steel!”

“Each time he has one of those his ‘mad episodes, I fear of losing you but you don’t care about you life at all!” He snapped. angrily, his gaze hardening on my face.

“Dad” I started but he cut me off

“There are so many other powerful alpha, who are willing to make you their queen and shower you with love you desire.” He said righteously, interrupting me but I knew deep down, he wanted Kaiden for me.

I raised my eyes to stare at him, with a sinister look in my eyes. “That’s the thing. Dad. I don’t want other Alphas” firmly, a dark smile tugging on my lips. “I only want Kaiden.

“But he doesn’t want you!” He shot back in frustration, rising to his feet.

He chuckled darkly, sitting back on the stool beside me, “I have eyes and ears around. He informed proudly with a wicked

grin.

I turned my face away, embarrassed by my failed attempts to make Kaiden mine, the words my father had told me pears back when I choose to be Kaiden’s sex toy, played in my head.

“You should give him up now, Ariel” He demanded calmly, “Do you remember what I told you back then?” He asked, reading me like a book.

“Yes, I do.” I responded bitterly. His words as of then when I had begged him to support Kaiden in being alpha. Do whatever it takes to make him yours but if you fail then, I will be forced to bring you back home and marry you off to someone else”

“You failed, Ariel. He declared, with a sadistic smile on his face, brushing my hand like the over concerned father. My father was loving, true but behind all that care stood an ambitious man.

The true reason he had agreed to support Kaiden in becoming Alpha, despite everyone scowling at the idea of a “mad alpha” ruling wasn’t because he loved me so much, but because of his own ambitions. He knew just how powerful Kaiden was, if ! succeeded in my plans, in making him mine then he will become the father in law to the most feared alpha. 

“I haven’t failed yet!” I persisted frantically, peaking his interest.

“What do you plan to do huh?” He challenged, poorly hiding the curiosity in his voice.

“I’m still useful to him, Dad.” I began, my lips curling in a wicked smile, “If there’s no Aurora, then he’ll be forced to come back to me.

My father smiled smugly, seeming pleased with my words, “You want to kill the human girl, Ariel?” He asked feigning concern for her. 

“She needs to die for me to be Kaiden’s Luna and own his heart completely again!” I declared viciously, my eyes hardening as I thought of how everything had been perfect before she came to the picture.

Though I never had his heart, but I was treated better than others and that had been enough for me but she just had to ruin

it!

“You may think you’re important, but he won’t hesitate in killing us should we touch her.” He said with slight hesitation.

“Don’t you love me anymore, Dad?” I asked, using the emotional card to give him a push.

“Of course I do, Ariel. You’re my only child.” He said softly with a smile. I might want you to become the Luna of the Silvermist pack, but I don’t want you to die, you’re my daughter after all.” He said sincerely.

I placed my hand on his, staring into his eyes. “He won’t suspect us, if we covered our trails right.”

He smirked, his eyes glinting with happiness, “Now I get why you’re the strongest warrior in this pack.” He complimented proudly.
