Chapter 19
Aurora

My eyes blinked open as I stared at an unfamiliar ceiling, the softness of the bed making me want to sleep further. I jerked upright in horror at my surroundings, the sudden movement causing my head to ache. held my head in my hand to ease the pounding as I tried to remember what had happened yesterday, and more importantly, how I had ended up in an unfamiliar bed. The last thing I remembered was meeting Kaiden at the club, and then everything became a blur.
“You’re finally up,” Kaiden’s voice came, as though summoned by my thoughts. I turned to find him by the bathroom door, drying his damp hair with a towel. He wore a bathrobe, loosely tied, revealing part of his chest.
“And I thought you would never wake up,” he added with a smirk as he walked toward me.
I bit my lip, remembering the anger in his eyes when he saw me last night with another man. “Where are we?” I asked, gaze roaming the room as I tried to avoid staring at his exposed chest.
“In my room,” he said curtly before sitting on the bed, as though demanding my attention.
my
“What are we doing in your room?” I asked, trying to look away, but he caught my face, forcing me to meet his gaze. The scent of his soap filled my senses.
“You’re in my room at the club, love. Since you were so insistent on staying last night, I brought you here.” His tone was smooth as he pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear, his fingers lingering on my skin.
The spell broke when I felt his hand roughly grab my thigh. I tried to push it away, but his grip only tightened.
“The next time you think about wearing such a seductive dress to put yourself on display for other men, I won’t hesitate to strip you out of it and show you what I do to naughty girls who don’t listen,” he threatened, his voice low and firm, yet laced with a seductive edge that made my core throb with want.
I couldn’t understand if it was my lack of experience with men or something else that made me so easily affected by everything he did.
“Do you understand, love, or do I need to force it into your head?” he asked, his voice dangerously low. I nodded quickly.
“Most importantly, don’t you ever think of going clubbing again, and especially not to my club,” he added.
I opened my mouth to protest, surprised at the sudden burst of confidence, but he silenced me by pressing his fingers against my lips.
“Don’t think of protesting, Aurora. You are to listen to what I say. Do you understand?” he asked again.
I nodded stiffly. His stern expression softened into a smile, and I couldn’t help but marvel at how quickly his mood could change. He was so unstable in his emotions.
I was still lost in thought when I felt him leaning in. Panic shot through me, and I moved away before he could kiss me.
He chuckled darkly. “You weren’t so eager to resist yesterday. I think I like drunk you better,” he teased, whispering into ear. Almost as if his words triggered something, the memories of last night came crashing back. My face burned with embarrassment at the thought of throwing myself at him like that and even confessing my feelings.
“I’ll take it that you remember?” he asked, a playful glint in his eyes as he studied my expression.
His words made my cheeks flush deeper. “Or do I need to jog your memory, Aurora?” he added seductively, brushing his fingers lovingly along the side of my face.
“I’m sorry for throwing myself at you like that. I was intoxicated and didn’t know what I was doing,” I said in a single breath, bowing my head slightly.

Chapter 19
“Why are you sorry, Aurora? They say alcohol reveals your deepest desires, and it seems your deepest desire is for me to fuck you. Isn’t that right, love?” His tone was playful yet firm, and I couldn’t tell if he was angry or amused.
“I want you to always look at me when I’m talking to you, Aurora,” he demanded, raising my chin so I was forced to meet his intense gaze.
“Answer my question, Aurora. Do you want me?” he asked, his eyes locked on mine.
I bit my lip, swallowing hard.
I didn’t know how he expected me to respond to him when he was looking at me like that!
“No,” I lied, looking away from him. It what I had done last night.
Was
the safest option. Only heaven knows what Ariel would do to me if she found out
“Hmm… So you’re saying if I kissed you right now, you wouldn’t react?” he asked, grabbing my face again–this time softly– forcing me to look at him. I wanted to scream no, but it seemed he was daring me to lie again. Instead, I stayed quiet.
“Good to know you wouldn’t get jealous if I showed Ariel the same affection I showed you,” he said dismissively as he reluctantly stood up from the bed.
My chest tightened at the thought of him being the affectionate boyfriend he was supposed to be–to her.
“Get changed. We’re going home,” he ordered, back to his usual stern self.
I watched as he threw the bathrobe off his body, revealing his briefs and tattooed chest. I couldn’t seem to look away. He dressed slowly in the suit he had worn yesterday, clearly enjoying my gaze. He didn’t complain as he caught me staring, almost as though he loved it.
Once dressed, he walked toward me slowly, not breaking eye contact. He bent slightly to my level and placed his hands around my thigh.
“Do you want me to dress you too?” he asked, his tone serious, his touch sending a wave of warmth to my core.
“I… I don’t know what to change into,” I stuttered, flustered by our close proximity yet silently applauding myself for being bold enough to speak without fear all through.
“You didn’t possibly think the clothes on the nightstand were for me, did you?” he asked with raised eyebrows. Only then did I notice them.
He pulled away, heading for the door. “I’ll be outside waiting for you. Hurry up.”
I finally found a way to breathe once he left. Getting up from the bed, I took a quick shower and dressed, not wanting to make him snap at me for taking too long.
The clothes were oversized, clearly his, and smelled of his cologne. It was a pair of black sweatpants and an ash–colored T- shirt. Despite the size, I couldn’t help but feel comfortable as I looked at myself in the mirror.
“You’re beautiful, Rory. You don’t need to check yourself out,“Ryker said from behind me, startling me. I jumped, not expecting anyone to be there.
“You fucking scared me!” I spun around to face him.
He beamed at me, stepping closer. “I see some days away from me have taught you how to curse. Should I applaud Kaiden or scold him?” he teased, pulling me into a hug.
“As if you could ever scold him,” I retorted, wrapping my arms around him.
He chuckled as he pulled away. “And it’s given you a smart mouth too! Look at you, speaking boldly,” he said with a grin.

I shook my head, a smile tugging at my lips. “I missed you, Ryker,” I admitted honestly.

His eyes lit up with excitement. “Of course you did. I’m your buddy, though it seems Layla has taken that title away from me.” He feigned annoyance.
“Trust me, you’re still my buddy,” I reassured him with a smile.
“Well, your boyfriend asked me to check if you’re done changing so you can leave,” he informed me.
“He’s not my boyfriend. You of all people should know that, especially since he already has a girlfriend,” I said sharply. slightly irritated.
“And who’s this girlfriend?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as though he had no idea who I was referring to. His feigned ignorance only annoyed me further.
“Ariel, of course. Who else would it be?” I snapped, the name bitter on my tongue.
Ryker chuckled at my reaction. “You don’t need to get jealous, Rory. Trust me, Ariel is not his girlfriend,” he revealed.
I stared at him suspiciously, not believing a word he said. “If she’s not his girlfriend, then what is she? Because she sure acts like it,” I challenged.
“Their relationship is quite complicated, but believe me, they are in no relationship. Kaiden only has eyes for you.” Ryker explained, pulling me toward the door before I could fully process his words.
Outside the room was an office–Kaiden’s office, judging by the way he sat on the desk.
“Are you done?” he asked, standing from the chair. I nodded, glancing around the space, while Ryker walked away from me and checked the door leading to the main club.
He opened the door slightly before saying, “You may leave now.”
Kaiden, now standing in front of me, gave a curt nod. “Good. Let’s go,” he said, wrapping his hand around mine. He dragged me out of the club at lightning speed, so fast I struggled to keep up with his pace until we reached his car.
The club was eerily quiet, unlike the bustling chaos of the night before. I figured it was probably because it was daytime.
Once back home, I immediately headed to my room, wanting nothing more than to sleep off the pounding headache.
“You need to eat,” Kaiden said, his voice halting me
in
my
tracks.
The truth was, I had no appetite. Resting was the only thing on my mind, especially since I wanted to avoid him after my embarrassing confession the night before.
“I’ll just make something for both of us,” I offered, turning toward the kitchen. My plan was to take as long as possible preparing the meal, hoping he would retreat to his room so I could eat alone later.
But his words stopped me again.
“I already got something earlier. Just come sit and eat,” he said firmly, raising a packaged meal.
I bit my lip before saying softly, “Can I have mine later?”
I hoped he wouldn’t snap at me. He always seemed more concerned about my diet than I was.
He set the meal back down on the table and approached me slowly.

“Soon, love, I’ll fulfill your desires very soon, he promised, his voice low and laced with temptation Rising to his feet, he added, “Krst, Aurora. You can eat when you wake up”
His tone had coldness in it, reverting to the detached Kaiden 1 was used to.
I watched him leave, the door dicking shut behind him.
For a moment, I lay still, staring at the door, wondering if I had just imagined what had happened between us.
