“Where is he?” Evie asked as I walked to the ritual hall. She was standing on the altar with my mother, and Michael by her side. The ritual was hidden from the Coven witches.

I shrugged, standing beside my mom. I had been in my feelings earlier that I misinformed him. As though summoned by my words, he walked into the room, looking around with confusion written clearly on his face. I was impressed that by his ability to find this hall which wasn’t in the main building. Had he followed me here?
“I’m here.” He announced with a stoic expression, taking long strides towards us. I sniffed, watching him intently as his eyes softened locking with Evie. I felt a ping of jealousy, but I shoved it down my throat. He wasn’t worth it.
“Stand there.” Evie instructed, pointing at the middle of the hall where candles were lit round in a small circle. He narrowed his eyes in suspicion before walking into the circle.
“Now what?” He growled impatiently, fixing his eyes in me. I held my breath as his eyes burned into my skin. Guilt flashed in his eyes as he parted his lips slightly. My heart limped in joy. He was obviously sorry for treating me harshly. Looks like he wasn’t that heartless.
But I was wrong. Just as quickly as the guilt came, it disappeared replaced by raw anger. He snapped his neck back to Evie.
“Why are you being impatient?” Michael growled in anger, taking one step closer to the circle.
Kaiden’s eyes sharpened in disgust as it landed on him. He hated Michael for obvious reasons–Evie.
Evie tugged his arm shaking her head in disapproval. I scrunched my nose up in disgust as I watched her little eye communication with Kaiden, but stayed calm.
“We need silence for this ritual, and you know that.” She scolded sternly, snapping her attention back to Michael. His eyes flashed in defiance as he stared between them, slowly taking a step back in defeat.
“Can we start now? I don’t have all day.” My mom snapped impatiently, breaking her silence.
She was still upset by Evie’s decision, and never forgot to show us her emotions. She wasn’t important in the ritual, but as always she stood present in every ritual. My mom had been too busy to notice that I wasn’t adhering to the condition, not like she cared about it at that time. They all didn’t.
“Sit with your legs crossed.” Evie ordered, and he did as he said. She walked towards him slowly, entering the circle, and pulling out strands of his hair without warning.
She walked back to the altar, placing his hair into the list of other objects needed for the curse binding.
“Close your eyes.” She instructed, raising her eyes to meet his. He grumbled something low in his throat before shutting them. She began chanting words, lighting up the black candle in her hand.
I turned my attention back to Kaiden on hearing small grunts. Was it starting to work already? He will finally be a free man. Evie continued chanting, but my eyes were fixated on him. He snapped his neck to the right side, squeezing his eyes as though trying to escape a nightmare, but it was probably the effect of the spell. Then he snapped his neck to the other side, clenching his fist as the chanting went on. He repeated the same action, before shaking his head aggressively, digging his nails into his face as his eyes remained closed.
“He’s not fine.” I whispered in a quiet tone. I’ve never perform a ritual before so I couldn’t tell if it was part of it.
Then he screamed in pain, drawing his claws on his body continuously, and aggressively, leaving marks on his flesh. I panicked watching blood seep out of his body.
I snapped my neck to Evie. “He’s hurting.” I stated, glancing between them.

Chapter 141
“Shut it, Elara. You’re distracting her.” My mom reprimanded with a glint she could barely contain.
Did she have something to do with this?

I ignored her, screaming the words. “Stop, Evie.” But she couldn’t hear me, she was deep into the process already. My heart bled as another scream tore through the room. I snapped my attention to Kaiden as he continuously dug into his flesh. He coughed up blood, but he wouldn’t stop. My eyes roamed around the room, searching for means to end this, before it was too late.
Candles.

Without thinking, I darted towards the circle, ignoring my mom’s screams. I kicked off the candles surrounding him, but he didn’t stop. I looked back to Evie, and she was beginning to regain consciousness.
Why was he still hurting himself then? I entered into the circle, falling to my knees.
“Wake up, Kaiden.” I slapped his cheeks lightly. He mumbled ‘Aurora‘ with a weak voice, raising his hand up to his face. I choked back a tear, pushing his hand off his face.
“Kaiden, please wake up.” I said softly, wrapping my arms around his burning body.
“What’s happening?” Evie’s voice reached my ears, but I didn’t spare her a glance. All I thought about was Kaiden, He can’t die now.
“Please wake up.” I sobbed, whispering into his ear as his aggressive actions die off.
“What are you doing, Elara?” Michael snarled in anger, storming towards us. All their words fell on deaf ears.
“Aurora.” He screamed, pushing me off his body. I fell on the floor, staring at him with wet eyes as his eyes opened. I smiled in excitement seeing him awake till he began again. Hurting himself with his claws.
“Kaiden.” I muttered, coming closer to him.
“Stay the fuck away from me.” He growled, raising his fierce eyes to stare at me.
“Would you fucking listen to me?” I snapped back. He seemed to calm down, but not completely.
“Let’s go.” Evie ordered, pulling Michael and my mom by the hand. I waited till they left the room. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I took off my dress, leaving me in only my underwear, and Bra.
I hugged him tightly, “I won’t let them hurt you.” I stated in a promise, rubbing his back soothingly.
“Aurora.” He whispered in response, before I felt his full weight on my body, pushing me down to the floor.
