Ryker was lying unconscious on the hospital bed as the pack doctor, Carter attended to him. My heart clenched in fear as I stared at Ryker closed eyes. My dream of turning back to a werewolf was flashing right before my eyes.

“If he dies, you’ll lose your life along side.” I threatened, staring at him with hardened eyes.

“You need to stay calm, Jane.” Jacob placed a soothing hand on mine. “Carter is doing his best here.” He defended with a straight face.

“He’s the last shot I have at this, Jacob.” I said in a low tone, ruffling my hair in frustration.

“And he won’t die, Jane. I promise.” Jacob reassuring, dragging me out of the room before I lose it.

“This wasn’t the plan!” I barked, letting out my anger as soon as we walked into the room, “You should have been more careful when shooting.”

“Right?” He snapped sarcastically, “How was I supposed to know Ryker would take the bullet?” He shoot me a sardonically

look.

I sighed in anger, sitting on the edge of the bed. “The plan was for him to shoot Kaiden.” I said to myself, throwing my head back. I should have known better than to hand him the gun in the first place.

“Maybe if you hadn’t acted out, Ryker wouldn’t be in that state.” He pointed, causing me to flutter my eyes in fury.

“Are you blaming me for this?” I snapped, jolting to my feet.

“No, I’m saying you should act more rationally going forward.” He clarified in a calm tone. “The plan was to bring Ryker here, but you lost it after learning he was coming with Kaiden.”

“I understand you hate him, but you can’t keep acting out because of him.”

I chewed the inside of my mouth, averting his gaze cause he was right. I hated Kaiden for many reasons–shooting Gerald, killing our parents and being born before me. If I had been the man, and was born before he was, I would have being the alpha.

I left with Jacob five years back to the battle with a mask. I watched the entire fight unfold without making any move, not like I could then.

“What do I do now that Ryker is on the brink of death?” I enquired, exhaling to calm my nerves.

“I told you, he’s not going to die.” He repeated more firmly with mischief glinting in his eyes.

“It’s not such a bad idea if he stays in coma.” He waved off, but there was a deep meaning to his words.

“What does that mean?” I arched my eyes in curiosity. He smirked at me before sitting on the bed beside me.

“The longer he sleeps, the more memory we can manipulate.” He said curtly, and I spun my head towards him with an impressed smile.

“Now does that put your mind at ease?” He enquired and I nodded with a dark glint in my eyes.

He gave me a tight smile, gently rising from the chair. “Do I still send Aurora to the hospital?” He asked rhetorically, and I laughed hysterically.

“We both know she won’t be leaving here on her feet.” I said cruelly, playing with the strand of my hair. Kaiden had passed

They weren’t aware of the recent change in power. They believed Gerald’s father was siek, and I was temporarily in power till he was back on his feet. The lie I sold to them.

The door opened, and Jacob walked back in the stern expression. “I have gathered them in the hall.” He informed.

“Shall we, Jacob?” I said sarcastically, jolting to my feet. He trailed behind me as we walked into the hall.

The murmurs filled my ear as I sat on the chair of the alpha. “You can’t sit there!” One of the council elder, reprimanded pointing at me in fury.

I rolled my eyes in response, crossing my legs with a daring eyes. He clenched his teeth, but remained silent which was best for him.

“Good day, Everyone.” I greeted with a chirpy tone. They glanced at each other in confusion before looking back at me without a word.

A sly grin etched on my face. “I don’t like being ignored, but I’ll let it slide today.” I said innocently before gesturing for Jacob to proceed with the announcement.

“Listen up everyone.” He began, clearing his throat. The same man from earlier showed defiance in his face. I placed my index on my lips, mouthing a ‘shush‘ shutting him up.

“As you know, Rhea and Luke are dead.” He announced. Loud gasps filled the room as they stared back at us in shock.

“Well, you know now.” He said dismissively in a stoic expression. I lied to them that they were called by the North council, and they were stupid enough to believe my words without asking questions.

“And your Alpha Clarke too.” He spat out, and their jaw dropped opened.

“You killed them all.” The pack elder sneered in accusation. “You think you can actually usurp power?”

I smiled sardonically, waltzing towards him. “I don’t think I can.” I drawled out, smiling at the idea. “I already have.” I taunted in a low tone.

“We won’t let that happen.” Some of the gullible pack members echoed in

support.

“Is that so?” I asked rhetorically, glaring at their heads as I nodded to the warriors behind them. They drew out their weapons, pointing it at the pack members.

“Anyone who dares to oppose me,” My voice turned cold, “Will die here.”

The room turned silent as they held each other with fear on their faces. I smiled at the sight, taking slow steps to my seat.

“I believe my message was gotten across.” I said mockingly, resting my face on my hand. They nodded violently in response. I waved them off, watching them hurry out of room in speed.

“They came handy after all.” Jacob chuckled, staring at the warriors in satisfaction. He trained them, making them loyal to

him.

“Soon, I will ruled everyone like this.” I thought loud with a determination in my eyes.
