“Is this some joke?” I growled in anger, shooting her a cold stare.

“I didn’t laugh about it, Kaiden.” She responded sarcastically, kicking the gun to me and throwing the other to Ryker.

“If you manage to kill Ryker, you leave with Aurora, but if he kills you…” Her words lingered on the air, a knowing smile curving on her face.

“Don’t Ryker.” Ariel shook her head in disapproval as his eyes stuck to the gun lying next to him.

“Don’t fall for her tricks again.” She added, tugging on his arm, but he pushed her away, and took the gun on the floor.

“How about killing you instead, Keira?” His eyes reddened in grief as he cockled the gun.

“Go ahead, but don’t think of walking out of here alive afterwards.” She reminded, glancing at us, she added, “None of you

will.”

I hate to admit that she was right, but I couldn’t beat Ryker if we were to face each other. He would easily overpower me, I don’t think Aurora would enjoy learning the cost of saving her.

“Make your choice.” She snapped impatiently, wiping invisible dirts on her fingers..ared down at Aurora, slowly crouching down to her level. She was still breathing, but I needed to act fast or she won’t make it.

“Aurora is dying here.” I informed, the words tasting off in my mouth. I maybe keeping a strong facade, but I was panicking inside.

What if I can’t save her? The question tormented me the longer I stood by, doing nothing. I couldn’t fathom the idea of losing her, and I would do everything to keep her alive. Even if it means killing Ryker.

“She won’t die if you make your choice quickly, big brother.” She was irritated by my reluctance.

“We accept the challenge, but keep your own end of the deal.” Ryker declared, pointing his gun to me.

He pulled the trigger, the bullet rushing towards me with an unstoppable speed. I dodged his attack, rolling to the floor and picking up my gun. The bullet hit the wall behind me with a loud sound.

Keira clapped slowly, with eyes glinting in happiness. “That’s the spirit, Ryker.” She encouraged, walking back to her chair.

“Fight me, Kaiden.” Ryker ordered, his eyes set with determination. I breathed heavily, staring up at him and putting pressure on the wound on my arm. The bullet had brushed past my arm in my attempt to escape.

“Ryker, Don’t do this.” Ariel warned, but he casted her side glance.

“If I don’t do this, you are going to die!” He roared in desperation.

“She’s deceiving you into this, Ryker. Can’t you fucking see it?” She retorted back angrily, pointing at her.

Ryker’s eyes flickered up to Keira who wore a bored expression on her face. “You’re just playing her game all over again.” Ariel added, and I couldn’t help, but agree. We were all playing Keira’s sickening game.

“That little bastard inside you is making you paranoid, Ari.” She glared at Ariel with a tight smile.

“Little bastard?” Ryker asked in confusion, arching a brow at Ariel. I sighed, scrambling to my feet.

“She’s pregnant.” I announced shaking my head. This changes everything. There was no way I could shot him when he was

His face morphed into shock, disbelief then excitement. “Is that true, Ariel?” He asked for confusion.

She nodded slowly, opening her mouth to responding but the loud noise of the cell door cut her off.

“Madam Jane.” Silas said respectfully as he walked in.

“Ohh Silas.” Keira mused, gesturing for him to stand close to her. I watched them in suspicion. There was something more going on here, but I couldn’t place a finger on it.

“Take my brother’s mate to the hospital.” She ordered, meeting my gaze. “A human hospital.”

He hummed in response, crossing the room but I quickly blocked his path. “I’m coming with you.” I announced, but he pushed me aside.

I staggered backward, but stood my ground. I didn’t trust them to actually bring her to the hospital.

“Why are you being stubborn, brother?” She snapped, fisting her hand in frustration. “I’m trying to be nice here, but you refuse my help.

“You know what?” She drawled out with a fire in her eyes, “Die, Already!” She barked angrily, and Silas took a step closer to

“Good bye, Alpha.” Silas whispered smugly. I took a step back when I heard the unsthed sound of his knife, but he was faster. I felt a sharp pain on my stomach. I coughed up blood as the knife pierced deeper. With the remaining energy I had left, I pushed him away from my body, falling to the ground.

“Kaiden!” Ryker, and Ariel screamed in panic. I pulled the trigger of my gun, surprised when no bullet came out from the muzzle. I repeated my actions, but the gun was fucking empty. I stared at Keira in disbelief and she smirked, sending me a wink.

Silas pointed his gun to my head, but Ryker beat him to it. A bullet passed through his head. I sighed of relief left my lips when he dropped on the floor next to me.

“Shoot him, Jacob!” She commanded furiously, slamming her hand on the arm of the chair. Her guard–Jacob grabbed his gun, and aimed for my forehead.

“No, Ryker.” Ariel scream tore through the room, but I didn’t bother staring her way as I shut my eyes closed, waiting for my death.

“Nooo!!” Keira’s and Ariel’s shrieked same time I heard the bullet hit my body. No, it wasn’t my body cause I felt no pain.

Slowly opening my eyes, I saw Ryker standing in front of me with a pained smile on his face. I stared down to see blood seeping out of his stomach. I felt a lump on my throat as he fell down to his knees.

“I’m sorry, Kaiden.” He whispered, spitting out blood from his mouth. My mouth fell opened, but I still in shock. Ryker had just taken a bullet for me.

“Baby,” Ariel said softly, rushing over to him. She held his body in her arms as tears rolled down her cheeks.

“I love you, Ariel.” He said weakly as my

dimmed the longer I stared. The knife was poisoned.
