There was this saying that one could feel their mate’s pain regardless of the distance. I felt like Aurora was slipping away slowly, which was why I left for Raven wood. Ryker had been the one to hand her over to Torrence, and I couldn’t retrieve her back in my current state. Two weeks had gone by, and my wounds weren’t completely healed. I couldn’t possibly fight an army of werewolves without any help and Ryker was the best shot I had at it. After all I had trained him to be the best. I was surprised he was on same page with me without saying the words.

“We’re here.” Silas announced, staring at us both from the front mirror. Ryker had briefed me about every information I needed during the ride.

Ryker stared at me with a look of concern, “Sure you can fight?” He asked warily.

“I might look weak, but I can beat you up, Ryker.” I warned, averting his gaze so he wouldn’t sense the lie. He nodded in agreement before opening the doors and stepping out.

“Don’t try anything stupid, Silas or I promise you’ll regret this.” I threatened with a stern expression. He hummed with mock fear on his face. 

I pulled the door open, bouncing out of the car. I stood in front of the car beside Ryker staring at Torrence pack house with hardened gaze.

“Lead the way.” I growled as Silas joined us. He raised his hand in defense, walking in front of us. The guards at the gate stood up with the weapons as we approached the front walls. ready for an attack. They were exactly like those men they sent to the pack.

“They’re with me.” Silas informed, halting in front. They stared at us in suspicion–me precisely. That’s what happens you have the reputation of killing.

Silas followed their gaze, “He won’t attack.” He reassured, waving it off. His words seemed to reassure them. They opened the rod gates slowly, allowing us in.

“Thank you.” Silas responded with a smile, patting one of them on the shoulder.

“Would you take us there already.” I snapped angrily causing Ryker to chuckle.

“You can’t command me in here like that.” He remarked in annoyance, brushing past us. We followed him inside the building. This was my first time here, and I couldn’t say I knew what to expect. We continued walking down the passageway. slowly leaving the main building.

Silas stopped in front of a cell, turning to face us. “I’ve done my part. You can go in.” He urged with a smug smile.

“You’re coming in with us.” I countered as he attempted to run off. I dragged him by the collar, forcing him back.

“I can’t go in.” He snapped angrily, yanking my hand off his shirt.

“And why is that? Because you’ve set up a trap for us to walk into?” Ryker pressed with knitted brows.

He huffed, taking two step forward into the cell and pushing it open. “See no trap?” His voice dripped in sarcasm.

He stepped further into the dark room, thanks to my werewolf vision that let me see through the darkness.

We trailed behind him, staring around the room suspiciously before the light to the room came on. My eyes landed on Aurora’s half naked body lying on the floor sprawled next to Ariel.

“Fuck, Aurora.” I rushed towards her, crouching to the floor as I held her body in my arms. Her heartbeat was weak, way too weak and her body was pale like she had no blood in her.

“Ariel, wake up.” Ryker shook Ariel’s body vigorously, I shot him a quick glance before returning my eyes back to Aurora.

“I guess I can leave now.” Silas mumbled spinning to his heels before I protested. Whoever this ‘Jane‘ was, she was insane.

Aurora was barely recognizable. She had wounds all over her body. I quickly took off my shirt, and pulled it over her body. Her body was cold, almost like she was dead.

No, She’s not. I don’t think I can breath without her in my life.

I scooped her in my hand, earning a curious stare from Ryker. “Where are you going?”

“She’s going to die here, Ryker.” My breathing was hoarse in fear. “I can’t lose her, Ryker.”

“Do you think whoever put her in this state would allow you walk out of here just like that?” Ryker retorted, sharpening his

eyes.

Ariel cough echoed through the room, breaking the tension. We broke eye contact, both staring at her in anticipation as she slowly fluttered her eyes opened.

“Is that you, baby?” She whispered in confusion blinking her eyes. Ryker’s face morphed into a full smile as he wrapped his arms around in return.

“It’s me, Ariel.” He muttered into her hair, stroking the hair slowly. They pulled away from their embrace staring at each other affectionately. I gently placed Aurora back to the floor, waiting patiently to interrogate Ariel.

“I thought I would never see you.” She admitted, caressing his face.

“What happened to you?” I asked impatiently breaking off their reunion. Ariel arched her head to my direction, noticing my presence in the room before her eyes landed on Aurora.

“Is she okay?” She asked in worry. She was showing concern for Aurora? I shook my head in response, caressing Aurora’s face. She was on the verge of death and I couldn’t help her.

The clicking sound of heels on the floor froze us. Ryker and I exchanged glances before he pulled out a gun, and pointing it towards the door.

“She’s here.” Ariel muttered with a hint of fear as the door pulled opened. Ryker cockled the gun, as a man walked with a stoic expression unfazed by the weapon pointed at him.

“Now that’s not how you welcome me, Ryker.” A lady said sarcastically, stepping into view.

Ryker’s hand fell to his side slowly in shock that mirrored us. “What the fuck…” he trailed off with round eyes.

“Layla?” I questioned with a blank expression.
