Aurora had been quiet since the funeral ended. I carried her hack to the pack home afterwards, and cradle her to sleep. Over the week, I had come to realize just how much harm I might have caused in the quest to protect her, yet I didn’t feel sorry) for it. I was trying to keep her safe.
The pack had been silent, probably wanting for me to snap and kill them all. In as much as I would love to take out my frustration on someone, I wouldn’t dare. My wounds were no longer healing which made it dangerous to indulge in any fight right now
Torrence pack were etching for a fight, not just them but other parks. A park member was found dead near our territory. I knew what they all wanted–Aurora. The news about her abilities had now become widespread and everyone was eager to have her. Why they hadn’t attacked her yet was a mystery to me. But I came two possibilities–they weren’t bold enough to actually capture her or were to scared of my reaction. However I pick the former.
“Why aren’t you healing?” Aurora mumbled in a quiet tone, touching the bruise on my face. I knew she was curious, she had been staring for too long
“It’s nothing, love. I plastered a smile on my face, brushing off her worry,
“It can’t be nothing. You are a werewolf. Aren’t you suppose to be heal already?” She argued, scrunching her face in suspicion
“It’s probably the alcohol” I lied, gently grabbing her hand which were roaming other parts of my body, inspecting for wounds
“Don’t lie to me. Kaiden.” She warned in a stern voice, sitting up and crossing her arms.
I sighed, rubbing my forehead before nodding my head to her demands. “Fine, since you wish to know.” I responded.

“You’re right about me not healing. I began with a mock smile on my face. Her eyes bulged out, waiting for me to continue, but I was trying to forge a lie to tell her.
How exactly was I supposed to tell her that she was the reason behind it? She would flip and that was the last thing I needed right now.
“Magnus claws must be lethal.” I said with a chuckle. She narrowed her eyes at me in suspicion before lifting my shirt up.
“What the.” She gasped, slapping her hand over her mouth as she stared at the wound on my stomach. I hissed in annoyance, pulling my shirt down.
“Why the fuck did you do that?” I snapped angrily, jolting up from the bed and recoiling to the arm chair.
“You need to go the hospital. She demanded in a serious tone, “Your wound is getting worst” She screamed in panic.
I chuckled darkly, clenching my fist in anger. My wound was infected, yet I wouldn’t go close to a hospital right now. It would only draw unwanted attention. Everyone would get to know that I’m no longer the powerful Kaiden they knew and that meant war. They would try to infiltrate the pack, and with my current condition, we would obviously lose.
“I will be fine.” I reassured through clenched teeth but she wasn’t buying it
“We are going to the hospital now.” She declared, rising from the bed.
“No, we are not.” I countered firmly, pushing her hand off my arm. “What do you think would happen if anyone finds out what is really going on with me?” I roared angrily, scrambling to my feet.

I had managed to escape the prying eyes of the pack members by keeping my distance from them treatment, but I was no doctor.

“Then I will go ask Magnus for help.” She announced, storming towards the door but I was quick to block her jual before
she made it out.
“You are going nowhere.” I said coldly, pushing towards the bed.
“Do you expect me to sit and watch you die?” She asked in frustration, yanking my arms off her waist.
“No one is dying.”1 assured in a serious tone, but she shook her head stubbornly.
“Magnus put you in this state so there must be something he can do about it” She argued with hopeful eyes.

“Don’t even try to change the topic!” She snapped, “I don’t hate you, neither do I want you dead.” She informed causing my lips to spread in a wide smile.
“Then I’m not dying.” I waved off, sitting beside her.
“Does this have something to do with me?” She asked suddenly, her eyes burning into mine, searching for answers.
“What powers do you have to possibly stop my healing?” I asked mockingly, denying her allegations.
“This has something to do with me, right?” She added, pursing her lips.
“You have been acting a little weird after your near death experience…” She trailed. Her face crinkled, seeming to be deep thoughts.
“I did this to you.” She concluded after a moment of silence, holding my gaze.
“Don’t dare lie to me again.” She warned when I attempted to deny her words.
I sighed before saying, “I don’t know how it happened, but I lost my hearing and healing abilities after that day” I said in a
soft tone
“Why..why didn’t you say anything?” She whispered in a guilt trip voice.
“Because you would get hurt learning about it.” I informed, pushing a strand of her hair backward.

“How…” Her voice cracked in surprise. I smiled at her, kissing the side of her face.
“I promise I’m fine.” I reassured but she wasn’t convinced.
“How can I undo it?” She quipped curiously.
“I don’t know, love. Hut I do know one thing. I want you back.” I kissed the corner of her lips.
“Don’t push me away again.” It wasn’t a plea, but an order.
