Theo had always been the carefully groomed heir of the Lewis Group. It was only after his disability that Saul had invested effort in raising his illegitimate son. Now, not only had Theo recovered, but he also brought with him a letter of intent for a joint development project with Sunrise Group and Glow Group to build an underwater city. If this project succeeded, the Lewis Group would become the leading force in Mecpus.
Thus, Saul invited all the notable families in Mecpus and dozens of news media outlets to this banquet, intending to announce Theo’s return to the world. However, what they didn’t know was that it was because of me that Sunrise Group and Glow Group agreed to collaborate with Theo.
The banquet hall was resplendent, with a massive crystal chandelier casting a soft, star–like glow. The guests, all dressed in their finest attire, raised their glasses, drinking and chatting merrily. Every face beamed with joy and satisfaction.
My appearance, however, seemed a bit out of place, drawing countless gazes upon me. Cecilia stood under the lights, holding a glass of red wine. Her face was as exquisite as a painting, her smile bright and confident. The moment she saw me, her smile seemed to deepen.
She leaned in, opening her arms warmly, but whispered in my ear, “I didn’t expect you to actually show up.”
I retorted, “Are you scared?”
“Let’s wait and see if Theo chooses someone with a disability or a beautiful, capable woman who can help him.”
The news of my presence at the Lewis family’s old mansion quickly reached Theo. He looked dashing and noble in his well -tailored suit, but his face showed rare anxiety as he hurriedly asked, “Why did you come?”
I gave a bitter smile, my tone laced with sarcasm, “It’s your birthday party. Can’t I come?”
Who was it that once said they wished I could be by their side for every birthday?
Theo’s expression shifted unpredictably before settling into a deep sigh. “I’m glad you came. I know you like peace and quiet. I planned to spend the evening with you after the party.”
Spend time with me? How helpless you sound.
I sat in my apartment for a long time today, realizing that this tone had surfaced many times before. My love for him had
blinded me to it.
“I’ll have someone take you home.”
I looked at him directly, my tone stubborn, “No, I want to stay and watch.”
I wanted to see him in all his glory.
According to the agreement with Rosalie, after midnight tonight, I would be able to stand up and walk towards him step by step. I thought he would be happy… surprised… touched…
Of course, he would also be angry, as I had deceived him.

But now, none of that seemed to matter. The three years I thought I had sacrificed for love now seemed like a joke. Perhaps that was why Jasper and Rosalie had made this agreement with me. They had seen through Theo’s true nature.
I saw Theo’s smile freeze for a moment, but then he gently touched my head with eyes full of tenderness. “Alright, my Thea can do whatever she wants.” His tone was infinitely accommodating.
In the past, such words made me feel happy and sweet, but now they felt cold and bitter.
Theo, you look like you love me so much!
My eyes stung as I forced a smile, holding back the tears that threatened to fall.
Cecilia, standing nearby, forced a smile. “Theo, don’t forget our agreement.”
