Chapter 209
Julius remained expressionless, adjusting the blanket on his legs and voicing calmly, “I’ll track down The Seraphic.”
That so–called ‘elixir” indeed had peculiar effects, but it was a far cry from being miraculous to cure everything like some mythical pill. If anything, it had caused Edward health issues.
Back when Edward took it, he felt invigorated, but it was only the hormones in the compound stimulating his body. Once the effects wore off, the after–effects kicked in. Edward still seemed spirited at present thanks to Paul keeping him alive with medication.
Another sigh escaped Edward. “Quit forcing it. Maybe it’s just meant to be.”
Not another sound came from Julius. He bobbed his head at Leo, and the latter caught on before coming over to wheel him
away.
“Wait!” Edward called out to Julius just seconds after Leo took a couple of steps. “That voting thing… How do I go about it?”
That stumped Paul to no end.
Meanwhile, at the Miracle Show camp on Liberty Island, the top five runners got to choose their advantage. After getting opinions from five people in the group, Quiana picked a moderately difficult song with lyrics in a mixture of local and Uprian languages.
“Will Quiana be singing in Uprian?” Viola laughed from a distance. “Can she even read Uprian?”
“Why the sarcasm?” Sofia was frustrated with Viola. “You talk the most, acting like you’re the only one who knows and Quiana can’t do anything.”
“If only she could.” Viola laughed out loud. “Forget about singing, if she could just recite all the Uprian alphabet, I would bow down to her and call her master.”
Quiana was from the slums and could not even afford school; even if Quiana could sing and dance, learning Uprian was the hardest. Viola reckoned that such an illiterate girl getting on the show was thanks to the Larson family and Winona.
“Really?” Quiana showed up out of nowhere, clear–eyed, and started reciting the letters in Uprian.
“What’s she doing? Is she reciting the alphabet? She must be dumb to pull this so suddenly.” The rest turned to look, some were confused. Even Viola froze.
After Quiana finished reciting smoothly, she arched a brow at Viola. “You don’t have to call me master. Just bow down.”
Viola finally realized what was going on. She knitted her brows. “Are you out of your mind?”
She was leaving when Sofia came back to her senses and grabbed Viola. “You said it yourself–if Quiana could recite the Uprian alphabet, you would bow down and call her master. Are you going back on your word?”
“You must also be crazy!” Viola shrugged off with a flick of her sleeve. “I was just joking. Did you take me seriously?”
“You!” Sofia frowned; she, too, never expected Quiana to actually recite it. It had all become a joke.
“I took it seriously.” Quiana walked up to Viola, her breath cold. “So, are you kneeling or not?”
“Psycho!” Viola’s face darkened. She peeked at Lucy for help, but Lucy pretended to notice nothing. Jessica and the gang were not around. Nobody else spoke up for Viola.

Quiana asked again, “Are you gonna kneel or not?”
“Are you stupid for taking my joke seriously?” Viola said impatiently, walking away only to trip over after some steps and end up kneeling before Quiana.
“Ah!” Viola cried out in pain and saw Quiana standing before her, which enraged her. “Are you freaking crazy?”
Quiana pridefully accepted Viola’s act of reverence and casually picked her ear with a faint smirk. “That was me giving you a hand to fulfill your promise.”
“I…” Viola’s expression contorted in fury. Immediately, she sprang to her feet and lunged at Quiana.
