Julius was temperamental. Despite his disability, nobody could stop him when he lost his temper. If he were to drag a few families down with a do–or–die attitude, they would lose more than they would gain.
Therefore, even if others were unhappy with Julius, they didn’t dare to provoke him too much. They were obviously trying to blackmail Julius emotionally.
Zack scowled and snapped, “You all know how Julius ended up with broken legs. None of you have the right to accuse him not helping Mr. Edward Hawley!”
In the car accident a few years ago, Edward and the second branch of the Hawley family were also in the car. Yet, the only one who got hurt was Julius.
Joshua’s expression changed, and his fist clenched at his side without realizing it.
“Since you are closest to your father, shouldn’t you offer the life–saving medicine, Mr. Julius Hawley?” A middle–aged man stepped in. It was the head of one of Janivielle’s most prominent families, Jason Caldwell.
Almost everyone blamed Julius.
Julius sat silently, his long lashes casting shadows over his eyes. His expression was unreadable, and he remained silent, emanating an oppressive atmosphere.
Everyone sensed an invisible pressure in the air. The noise in the room gradually diminished, eventually giving way to complete silence. Some people didn’t even dare to breathe.
“I can prove that Julius doesn’t have the medicine. Even if Julius had it, he would kill Mr. Edward Hawley by giving it to him!” Shane said sternly, adjusting his glasses.
Shane’s father was the director of the National Medical Bureau, and his medical expertise was internationally renowned. As: result, Shane’s words held significant weight.
However, Shane was Julius‘ private doctor and seldom treated anyone else. Therefore, he might have been biased in his defense of Julius.
Derek frowned and said, “Are you covering for him? Don’t forget, your father is here too!”
“Dr. Spence, I understand that you two are close, but this pill can potentially save Mr. Edward Hawley. How could it possibly be harmful? If it were, then why didn’t we have any issues with Winona’s pill before?” someone asked.
“Who said her medication was fine?” a low voice sounded from the other room. A bespectacled middle–aged man in a white coat appeared, exuding elegance and authority.
Shane’s demeanor shifted as he straightened his posture. “Dad,” he greeted.
Paul nodded, his eyes scanning everyone in the room as he clasped his hands behind his back. He explained in a deep voice, “That so–called miracle pill is merely an experimental drug. Not only does it fail to address Mr. Edward Hawley’s condition, but it also poses a risk of harm.”
Paul was the director of the National Medical Bureau, a leading figure in the medical field. Thus, they were stunned to hear
that from him.
Derek didn’t dare doubt him, but he couldn’t believe it. He questioned, “H–How is that possible? When Dad took the pill, you clearly said he was getting better!”
Paul scoffed, “Did I? By the time I arrived, you had already allowed other doctors to observe as Mr. Edward Hawley took the pill. He was the one who prevented me from speaking up.”

Chapter 207
“But-“Joshua frowned as he said, “Dad’s symptoms disappeared then, and he was more eneryptic than ever, Humor # ineffective?”
“The National Medical Bureau is currently working with Noah Industries on this drug, 1 understand it better that que ad scoffed. He paused for a moment before asking Joshua, “Have you ever heard of terminal heidy!
“Terminal lucidity?” Joshua repeated.
Everyone in the room knew exactly what that meant. Their expressions changed as they thought, Wh Mr. Vned they
make it?‘
Derek and Joshua turned even paler, wondering if Edward had finalized his will yet.
Derek took a deep breath to steady himself before saying, “Dr. Paul Spence, my father-”
