Colton and Arina
Colton POV
I wasn’t sure when we first mated where Arina would want to live. Honestly, I was happy no matter where she chose as long as I was with her. I knew it would be hard for her to leave the Elven kingdom and live in my pack. I assumed she would want to live in the Red Death Tribe, so I was shocked when she said we would be remaining in the royal tribe. I didn’t know if being around Lily all the time would be awkward for us as a couple.
All the romantic feelings I had for her were gone the minute I found Arina, but I could
understand if it still bothered her. I know it would bother me if the roles were reversed. We
made that decision eight months ago, and it hasn’t been awkward for even a minute. Actually,
Liy and Arina are super close. Lily and I are as close as we were when we were kids, but that friendship extends to our mates now. I would say Drake is as close to me as a brother.
Lily and Arina are out shopping right now while I’m training with the warriors. “Colton, get your
head out of the clouds” Lily voice calls out and my eyes snap in her direction. She must notice
my confusion as she steps onto the training field. “We just got back, and I figured you and I
could settle an old score while Arina finishes getting ready” she says.
“Ready for what?” She rolls her eyes but doesn’t answer me. A circle starts to form around us
and she kicks off her shoes. I smile and take a fighting stance. We start to circle each other
while the warriors chatter around us. “I promise I won’t hurt the queen“I say taunting her. “The
warriors are more worried about the queen hurting you, Colton. They have seen me fight,” Lily
says with a smirk. I lunge forward and she easily sidesteps me.
Cash chuckles and I roll my eyes. “You’re my wolf. Shouldn’t you be on my side?““Nah, I like
Lily better” he teases. She throws a punch toward my face, but I dodge. I step forward planning to hit her in the stomach when she grabs my arm and twists. Despite my size, she easily flips me onto my back. She takes a step back and moves side to side, bouncing on her
feet.
When I get to my feet, I waste no time getting close again. I throw a punch which hits the
mark on her chin. Her head snaps back and blood marks her teeth as she smiles widely at
- me. Now I’m confused. Before I can throw another punch, she does a round house kick that
connects with my jaw. I find myself on my a** on the ground. Two seconds later Lily is on top of me, landing blow after blow to my body and face.

I manage to buck her off, but before I can get to my feet she is on my back and has my arm in an awkward position. “Do you concede Colton or should I break it for good measure?” Her voice is a mix of hers, and Ariel’s letting me know she is in battle mode. “I concede my queen” I say and she giggles. She releases me and I roll onto my back. The triumphant smile on her
face makes me laugh.
“Feeling better now that the score is settled?““Much better, besides, your mate is waiting for you in your apartment. Don’t keep her waiting” she says. I race to my feet and kiss Lily’s forehead before I make my way to Arina and my apartment. When I reach the door, I catch my breath before I push it open. I smile when I see Arina standing near the table. She is wearing a flowery summer dress and strap sandals. She is as beautiful as the day I found her.
As I move further into the apartment, I notice a cake and bag sitting on the table. I start to panic a little. What could we possibly be celebrating? Did I forget something important that I should have remembered? Sh*t I f**ked up. “I can see you racking your brain, but you didn’t forget anything. I have something to tell you and I thought the occasion deserved a cake and a gift. I take a step closer, but she raises her hand to stop me.
“I want you to know that I love you. I love you more every day that I get to spend with you. I am so grateful that the goddess gave you a chance to become the man that you are” she says. “I love you too, Arina, but you’re starting to freak me out a little bit.“She smiles and reaches for the bag on the table. When she hands it to me, I take it from her even though all I want is to
pull her into my arms.
I reach into the bag and pull out what looks like a white shirt. When I pull it out, it’s a t–shirt. I hold it up and turn it to face me. My heart starts to race as I look between the shirt and Arina. “Does this mean what I think it does?” The shirt has a picture of a wolf and pup. It reads Big Bad Daddy Wolf at the top. She nods and this time I grab her, lifting her off her feet. She wraps her legs around my waist and I bury my face in her neck. “I’m going to be a father. We’re going to have a pup” I say, needing her to confirm it out loud.
“I took a test this morning. I wanted to do something special, so Lily helped me set this up. You’re going to be a dad. We are having a pup. Based on Liam and Jasmine’s pups, I would say in a few months, but I haven’t gone to the hospital yet to be checked,” she says. I immediately start walking toward the door. “Colton, what are you doing,” she says with a chuckle. “Having my mate and pup checked?”
“I can walk, Colton.” “You could, but you’re not.” She giggles again, and it takes me no time to get us to the hospital. A few minutes later Arina is lying on an exam table, and we are waiting for the doctor. When the door opens, I expect to see Bethany, but instead a young male elf

steps into the room. I growl low, startling the poor man. “Colton,” Arina says in warning. “No

disrespect doctor, but my wolf isn’t going to be happy if you touch our mate. Is Bethany
available?”
“No problem, I’ll see if I can find her” he says slipping back out of the room. I turn back to Arina, and she glares at me. “Sorry love, but especially with the pup, Cash will lose his sh*t if hot doc there touches you.” She fights the smile, but I can see her irritation slip. “Fine but I don’t think its just Cash that is making a fuss” she says. I smirk as I move closer and press a
kiss on her lips.
It doesn’t take long for Bethany to step into the room. After she gives me hell about scaring the new doctor, she starts to move the wand on Arina’s belly that is covered in gel. When the sound of a heartbeat fills the room, my heart squeezes in my chest. I was so worried I would never have any of this. A mate, a bond, a pup, and happiness, but here I am with it all. I bring Arina’s hand to my lips and press a kiss on her knuckles.
The screen lights up and Bethany points out what looks like a large lima bean on the screen. “There is your pup. Based on what we know of hybrid pregnancies, you are about two months a long. Which means you have three to four months before you give birth. Congratulations” she says before she leaves us alone. I help Arina clean up before I lift her and set her in my
lap.
“Thank you my love. Thank you for loving me and making me father.““Thank you for choosing me, Colton. Thank you for choosing our future and our love. Thank you for making me a mother and loving me.” Goddess, I’m a lucky ba**ard.
