47 What Did You Do
Myra POV
The blood freezes in my veins as we step in to view of the cells. The ba**ard is lying on the ground, his skin has a bluish hue with dark blue veins visible on his face. I can see the rise and fall of his chest, so I know he isn’t dead, but something is definitely wrong. I’m just not sure if my b**ch of a sister is behind it and if this is all a ploy for them to escape. Her only power is sight, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have more in her evil bag of tricks.
“Don’t just stand there, help him, he’s dying,” Magnolia screams. No one makes any move to open the cell door. When she spots me, she moves toward the bars, gripping them tightly. “Sister, please. I know you don’t owe me anything, but you know what it’s like to lose a child. Don’t let mine die. I’m still your sister, and I’m sorry for all the wrongs I’ve done to you and our family,” she says. The gasps in the room have everyone looking between the two of us.
I feel like I can’t breathe. Is she saying that David is her son? That can’t be true. I was there after Elizabeth gave birth to the boys. I helped take care of them. I would have known if David wasn’t Elizabeth’s son. Hell, she practically favored him because she considered him the baby being born a few minutes after Allister.
“I don’t believe you. Besides, even if that were true, that ba**ard took my son from me. What would make you think I would care if, after all he has done, he suffers and takes his last breath? He is an evil pr*ck and the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. You have never cared about anyone but yourself. You and I haven’t been sisters for a very long time.”
“The only reason we are even here is because he doesn’t deserve a quick death. So I suggest that, whatever you’ve done to make this happen, you tell us quickly before we all just stand here and watch the Elven world be rid of the worst thing to ever happen to it.“An evil smile spreads across her face as she takes a step back and claps. “My sister is smarter than she looks” she says.
“It’s too bad I’m still the smartest one out of the two of us. In fact, since all of you are here I
wonder where the children are and if they are safe,” she says like she is talking about the
weather. Jasmine rushes toward the cells, reaching between the bars to grab hold of her. “What have you done? You better not have done anything to my children,” she says. I start to
move towards Jasmine and Magnolia’s next words, having me freezing in place.
“I think it’s funny that you trust a mutt that’s been held prisoner in this place by elves for
years. A mutt that lost her mother and found out that her brother has been living a happy life

in a wolf pack, not even giving her a second thought. She was so easy to manipulate,” she says. “Vincent, go find the children and Matilda now,” Jasmine orders, before turning back to Magnolia, who has a triumphant smile on her face.
“Open the cell door,” Jasmine demands to one of the guards. I move to step in front of her. “You need to think about the babies. We have no idea if what’s she is saying is even true. The children could be perfectly safe, and she is just goading you to escape this cell.The sound of her cynical laugh has me turning to face her.
“Oh sister, you know that you are just as worried as this worthless little b**ch who was never worthy of my son. Those two brats born of a servant are probably long gone and, with any luck, she’ll lose those abominations growing in her womb. I wish I realized the vision I had of her pregnant was not of her pregnant by my son but some worthless mutt’s pup. Then he could have ended her pathetic life,” she says.
“Open the cell now.” “Myra,” Jasmine starts to say, but I cut her off. “Whatever this b**ch has done that put my grandchildren in danger ends today.‘ Jasmine nods to the guard who opens the cell. “Lock it behind me.” I can see Jasmine wants to protest, but I won’t take any chances with this evil b**ch. I would sacrifice myself to protect the people I love.
“Oh Myra, you would have been better off to let the servant b**ch step in here with me to defend her brats. You’ve always been so weak and soft–hearted. Killing isn’t in your DNA, dear sister” she says it like her words are gospel. “Normally, you’d be right, Magnolia, but you have crossed lines that have my normally gentle heart ready to rip yours from your chest. Jasmine and the children are my family and, unlike you, who is a piss–poor excuse for a mother, I will defend them with everything I have in me.”
Her eyes get big and fear flashes in them. “My need to protect my family from the evil that is you and
your disgusting son trumps all my feelings about taking your life. Where are my grandchildren?” I rush forward pushing her against the cinder block wall. She grunts as I knock the air from her lungs. I punch her in the face busting her lip. “Answer me you stupid b**ch.!”
Blood pours down her chin and she sneers at me. I waste no time pulling my hand back, intending to punch her square in the face when a green puff of powder blinds me. “Don’t worry sister, you and the brats won’t be the only ones that die today.” Magnolia’s words ring in my
ear as the darkness takes me under.
Drake POV
I lead Lily to Canius’s office. We need to return to the kingdom today. I won’t lie and say I’m not

nervous about revealing myself, but it’s time. I knock and Canius calls out for us to enter. I
smile when I see Liam is already waiting. I know he is eager to get back to my mother. Before
we can even sit, the door to the office bursts open and Arina rushes inside, followed by Colton.
“We need to get back to the castle now,” she says. “What’s wrong?” “I don’t have time to
explain everything, but I’ve had a vision that is very concerning for the former queen and a
woman I’ve never seen before. I fear what will happen if we don’t return now,” she says. Liam
growls as he gets to his feet. I don’t even wait to gather our things. I wave my hand, creating the portal that will bring us outside the castle.
Making sure my illusion is firmly back in place, we head toward the entrance that leads to the
foyer. When we step inside, Vincent is rushing toward the cells. Seeing how frantic he is has
my heart in my throat. “Vincent, what the hell is happening?” “The children are missing, and I fear that Matilda has something to do with it. Something was wrong with David, so we
brought Bethany to see him in the cells and that evil b**ch started spouting off about a mutt
taking the children,” Vincent says. Liam pushes past us and as soon as the door opens, a scream rips through the air.
We make our way down the stairs and to the cells. Liam rushes over to Jasmine as she tries
to open the cell door. My eyes move to the sight inside the cell and my heart almost stops
beating. Myra is lying on the floor completely still at the feet of the old seer. If not for her
shallow breathing I would think she was dead.
Liam pulls Jasmine away from the door and into his arms. She starts to fight but eventually begins to sob and the only words I can make out are Myra and children. I make my way over and slam open the door. I motion for the guards to follow me. “Get in here and take Myra to the hospital now,” I say as I make my way toward Magnolia.
Magnolia is smiling until she can feel the power rolling off me. She backs up until she can’t move anymore. “I had no choice. She was going to kill me. Please have mercy,” she pleads. “Lily, please go with Myra and see if you can help Bethany. I’m going to see what I can do here. Vincent take Colton and as many warriors as you can round up to find my brother and sister.“I
would send Liam, but I think my mother needs him more. Between my mother’s sobs and the thought of Daniel and Diane being in danger, I can feel my control slipping.
I reach out my hand, taking Magnolia by the throat. A purple glow surrounds her where my hand is touching her skin. I slam her against the wall. “What did you do?” “I did nothing. It was the mutt that took the children. She wants the queen and her brother to suffer for all her years of misery. How could I be to blame when I was in here? As far as my sister, I had no choice but to defend myself. She threatened to rip my heart out,” she says.

“I have a feeling you should have taken her up on that offer, because I promise you it would
have been a quicker death than what I’m about to do.” I catch movement out of the corner of
my eye as David sits up, his eyes round with shock at the scene unfolding before him. My eyes return to Magnolia and I can feel my power flowing from me into her. Her body begins to
shake and her eyes close. The power is too much for a non–royal.
It doesn’t take long for the power to shift back as it drains her. Stealing her life force as my power returns to me. She scratches at my hands, trying to free herself from my grasp, but her attempt is futile. She has no powers or strength. Her body becomes weaker and weaker as the seconds pass.
The few minutes it takes for her body to completely give up and go limp probably felt like an eternity, but she deserved every bit of pain I just caused her. I drop her lifeless body to the ground before rushing from the cell, not sparing David a look. The children and Myra are all that’s important now. I say a prayer to the goddess as I make my way to the hospital.
