Drake POV
“What the f**k were you thinking bringing her out here where any member of the royal tribe
could see her? Take her to my office now before I take you to the f**king cells and beat you worse than I did the mute,” I say, so only Jared can hear me. His body stiffens, before he
immediately grabs the old b**ch, dragging her toward the shadowed hallway. Once they are
gone, I turn to Jasmine.
“I think you should go with Vincent. I have no idea what they have to tell me, but I have a
feeling its about you with the way Jared was glaring.” “Drake, you need to be careful. Magnolia
is a seer. What if they know you aren’t David, and they are trying to get you alone? Maybe you
should take Liam and Grant with you to speak with them,” Jasmine says, fear in her voice.
I cup her cheek with my hand. “You forget I’m not the weak, powerless slave anymore. I promise you that I can protect myself. Besides, it would look strange to have outsiders
present. Go with Vincent and explain everything, then come back to the office. We still need t
discuss the Elders and we are running out of time.” She nods before they both leave.
I head straight to the office. When I push the door open, Jared is standing while the old seer is
seated in front of my desk. I round my desk and face the two of them. “Explain yourself now,“I
say my words directed at Jared. “I’m sorry my king. I would never have brought her to you if
what she had to tell you wasn’t so important. I have always been loyal to you. I won’t allow
anyone to disrespect you,” he says.
“I consider not following my orders, disrespect, so I hope whatever the f**k she has to say is
worth my wrath” I say pointing at Magnolia. I turn my attention to Magnolia. “Speak,” I say crossing my arms over my chest. “My king, I have had a vision about the queen.” “I would
tread very carefully when speaking about my queen, hag.”
“My king, you have always trusted my visions. I would never mislead you. I simply want to
protect you, my king.” “I have no time for your unnecessary words. I’m expecting the Elders, sc
spit it out before I lose my patience completely,“I say with all the venom I can. “The queen has
betrayed you, my king. What’s worse is she has done it to you with a wolf. I fear she has
betrayed you more than just in the flesh and has aligned herself with the very wolf that seeks
to destroy everything you have.” she says.
“So you are saying there is a wolf here in my kingdom that’s been f**king my queen. Where is
he? How did he get through the magical barrier? No one but the Red Wolf would have such
powers.” She opens and closes her mouth like a fish out of water. “My king, I can’t answer how,

but I assure that my gift has never been wrong. I understand that you care for the queen, but don’t let your feelings for the woman cloud your judgment,” she says. I round the desk and
come to stand in front of her.
Without hesitation, I slap her across the face. “Don’t you ever question my judgment again.” Her eyes snap back to mine before she scrambles to her feet. “Of course, my king, I apologize. I simply wanted to inform you of my vision” she says. “I will deal with the queen. Neither of you are to say a word to her. Am I clear?” They both nod, but something about the way Magnolia is looking at me has me feeling unsettled.
The door to my office opens and Jasmine steps inside. Magnolia eyes her suspiciously before she drops her gaze to the floor. “We will leave you my king,” Jared says, leading Magnolia out of the office. When the door closes behind them, I place my finger to my lips. A sinking feeling in my gut has me grabbing the phone from my desk. The call is picked up quickly.
“Vincent, gather several of the warriors you trust and come to my office. Also, ensure that no one passes through the realm and that includes Jared and Magnolia. Ensure no one is allowed in the cells but me.” My eyes meet Jasmine’s as I set the phone down. “They know” she says. “I believe they do. We need to make sure they don’t escape and that they don’t free
David.”
Magnolia POV
As soon as David’s hand touches my face, a vision flashes before me. A vision of that ba**ard mute Drake standing in front of the desk. My heart starts to race. I can’t let on that I suspect he is anyone but David. I quickly get to my feet, making my apologies. Once we are in the hallway, I motion for Jared to follow me back to the room I’ve been staying in. As soon as the
door closes behind us, I start to pace.
“What the hell is going on? What the hell was that about back in the office? He has never doubted your visions before. I expected him to want me bring him Jasmine, but instead he acted like you were lying.” I turn and face Jared. “That is not the king.” He looks at me like I’ve grown ten heads. “What the hell are you going on about? “Of course, it’s the king.” “No, it’s not. His illusion power is very strong, but the minute his skin touched mine it allowed me a glimpse of his true form.”
“You aren’t making any sense. Stop being cryptic and just tell me what the f**k is going on before I snap your neck,” he says. “Drake has gained his powers. His beloved has found him. They have completed their bond. David is doomed if we can’t stop them from revealing everything to the Elders.“Jared throws his head back and laughs.
“Half of the Elders know exactly what David did to Allister and are too afraid to go against the

king if he could kill his own brother. The other half are oblivious and believe that David was their savior when Drake was too pathetic to rule. The only one that tried to stand against David was Samuel, and he hasn’t been heard from in a very long time,” Jared says with a knowing smirk.
I imagine that means that David either killed Samuel or had this a**hat do it. That at least is in our favor. Fear is a powerful weapon if used properly. My mind flashes to the slave in the cells and my heart clenches in my chest. “Jared, if Drake is pretending to be David, then that means that David is in the cells.”
I watch a storm of emotions flash in Jared’s eyes. This time its him that begins to pace. “It can’t be” he says, his look becoming distant and unhinged. “Jared, we need to get to the cells. I need to see if the slave is really David. Jared’l try to get his attention again and this time his eyes meet mine. He turns for the door and I rush behind him. This can’t be happening. How
could the Red Wolf get into the castle and to that f**king pathetic slave undetected?
My thoughts from earlier about Jasmine are the only logical answer. That b**ch betrayed my son and she will pay. I will make sure that she dies slowly for what she has done. We once
again move toward the door that leads to the cells. The guard from earlier looks nervous as
we approach.
Unlike last time, he makes no move to allow us through. “Move and allow us to pass, Lennon”
Jared says. His voice is laced with anger and rage at what I’m sure he considers disrespect.
“I’m sorry sir, but we have strict orders that only the king is allowed to go to the cells. Jared
steps forward and the guard visible swallows. Jared has at least half of a foot on the guard.
“I am the second in command. Whatever order the king gave does not apply to me, now move”
he says. “Sir, we have been given specific orders that no one, including you, is allowed past
this door,” the guard says. Without warning, Jared rears back before bringing his head forward
hard and fast. When his face connects with the man’s, he drops to the floor. Jared quickly
pushes the door open, and we make our way down the stairs.
When we reach the cell, Jared grabs the keys and opens the door. The elf that I know is David,
eyes us both suspiciously. “David,” I say, and his eyes get big. I know whatever veil spell that little pr*ck put on him won’t allow him to confirm what I suspect. I move toward him with my hand outstretched. “I won’t hurt you, David.” Every time I use his name, relief flashes in his
eyes,
My heart breaks for my son who still had yellowing bruises on his face. My hand touches his forearm and the vision flashes again. David stands before me. “It’s him, Jared.” David turns toward Jared. “I’m so sorry my king. I had no idea it was you,” Jared says, his voice full of
regret.

“David, we need to get you out of here. That ba**ard has called a meeting with the Elders. I know Jared said that half of them know what you have done. The problem is the other half finding out that Allister’s son has greater power than his father. Since it is likely he’s completed his bond, our only hope is to kill the Red Wolf.””
“Losing her will definitely break him. The Elders already believe he’s useless and now that the prophecy is complete, killing him won’t affect your throne.“David smiles and, for the first time in my life, it’s directed at me. “That seems like a perfect plan.” Our heads snap in the direction of the voice. “What the f**k are you doing down here” Jared says.
