Chapter 4
Chapter 4
On the day my sister–in–law reached 40 weeks of pregnancy, she insisted on going to the hospital to give birth.
I smiled as I stood behind the family, watching them walk into the doctor’s office with faces full of joy.
The doctor’s expression, however, was far from happy. He held the examination report, his face turning pale with concern,
and his hands trembling.
“What are you looking at? Hurry up and arrange a bed for me to give birth! I’m 40 weeks along,” my sister–in–law shouted at the doctor impatiently.
Seeing that the doctor still hadn’t moved, she directly threatened him, “I’m carrying a miracle baby! If your hospital doesn’t deliver my baby properly, you’ll all be in big trouble.”
The doctor struggled to calm his breathing and said through gritted teeth, “Deliver your baby? A miracle baby? Your baby
has been dead for a long time! There’s no baby to deliver!”
He slammed the report down on the table, his whole body shaking with anger. “You should have felt very uncomfortable
a long time ago. Why didn’t you come for a check–up? Why didn’t you come to the hospital?”
My sister–in–law was stunned when she heard this. My brother immediately panicked, “How is that possible? We felt the
baby move just a few days ago!”
“Yes, yes! Even after dinner yesterday, there was movement!” chimed in the rest of the family.
Hearing this, my sister–in–law quickly reacted, “That’s right! I felt the baby move after dinner yesterday. You quack doctor,
don’t talk nonsense. How dare you curse my child? My child is destined for greatness! Be careful, or you will face the
consequences!”
The doctor couldn’t hold back any longer. He slammed the table and shouted, “Curse your child? Your ignorance has already killed your baby months ago! Movement? Tell me where you felt the movement! You probably mistook indigestion
for fetal movement.”
I almost burst out laughing at this. Covering my mouth, I walked over to the nurse’s station and reminded them, “My family is a bit emotional. You should call security in advance. I’m afraid they might harm the doctor.”
In my previous life, when my sister–in–law was pushed in for an emergency C–section, she caused a huge scene, scratching the doctor’s face. Later, she shamelessly demanded compensation from the doctor, threatening to camp out at the hospital entrance and expose their so–called unethical practices.
At that time, my nephew was still in the incubator. I had to calm her down while paying the hospital fees, telling her that all expenses were waived so she would stop causing trouble and focus on recovering.
This time, thanks to my reminder, the security personnel arrived quickly. But who would dare to stop a high–risk pregnant
woman?
My sister–in–law, like a madwoman, tried to attack the doctor. “You’re the one talking nonsense! You heartless scoundrel,

profiting unethically, how dare you say my baby is dead? May you face the consequences!”
My brother couldn’t accept the reality either, standing there in a daze.
Seeing this, my mother rushed over to hold my sister–in–law, shouting. “Watch out for the baby, watch out for the baby!”
I scoffed silently. What baby?
The doctor, clearly not one to be trifled with, sternly said, “We need to perform surgery immediately to remove the baby! Otherwise, not only the baby but also your life will be at risk.”
Hearing this, my sister–in–law’s face twisted in anger, and she was about to attack the doctor again when suddenly, her legs gave out, and she collapsed.
My brother and mother screamed in terror, “My grandson! Save her, please!”
The doctor, looking at the chaotic scene, sighed helplessly and instructed the nurse, “Prepare for surgery immediately. The pregnant woman is high–risk, and the baby has been dead for some time. All her indicators are abnormal. Hurry!”
My brother and mother sat outside the operating room, pacing anxiously. “How is this possible? It can’t be. Mila said it was a child of great fortune. It can’t be a stillbirth,” my brother muttered frantically.
“If someone has to go, let it be Ryann. That useless girl, take her instead, but not my son!” he continued.
My mother knelt beside him, praying, “Mila said the discomfort was because the pregnancy was strong. It can’t be. Please watch over my grandson. If there’s any misfortune, let my daughter bear it. Please protect my grandson.”
Hearing my mother say such things without hesitation, I felt a strange sense of discomfort. I already knew what kind of people they were in my previous life, so why did I still have any expectations of them?
I pounded my chest, reminding myself that they didn’t deserve my sadness. Ryann, wake up!
Looking at the operating room, I forced a stiff smile. I had already faced my karma in my past life. This time, it was their
turn to face retribution.
It’s okay. You all were eagerly awaiting this “child of great fortune.” Soon, you’ll see what kind of fate it brings.
