Chapter Twelve
Greg’s POV
My mate is beautiful, with her long, waist–length chestnut hair, green memorizing eyes that have fear in them right now, and pouty lips that I want to kiss so badly. Her skin is creamy and so smooth that I just want to run my hands all over her body. She is very thin; it is from the abuse that she had to endure up to recently. She was trembling the whole time I was holding her hand at dinner; I did not want to let her go. I have finally found my mate and am not going to let her know. I sense that she has a lot of mistrust in me right now, but I am hoping that I
can break through that wall and get her to trust me. Wait until I get my hands on her
stepfather, I will make him pay for hurting my mate.
“Mate is scared. Winter told me the pain and abuse that she had endured throughout the
years,” Deacon told me. Winter must be her wolf, and I cannot wait to meet her. I will take it
slow with Tovi, build up her trust, and let her see that I will not harm her in any way.
We went to her room so we could have some privacy and just talk. I will take it slow with her, not to make her scared of me. Deacon wants to mate and mark her so badly, but I told him to take it slow, to let her heal mentally and physically. He reluctantly agreed, so we did not scare
our mate.
Luna had snacks and drinks brought, so we did not have to leave or be interrupted. Her room
is big and comfortable, with a huge king–size bed where I can cuddle with her, and a sitting area with a TV where we can sit, talk, and watch TV. Tovi stands there, twisting her hands, getting nervous about being in the same room as me. I walked up to her, gently placed my hand behind her head, and pulled her to my marking spot to calm her down, holding her there
until she relaxed.
“Tovi,” I said gently,” I know that you are nervous about tonight. I will not force you to do anything. We can just sit here and talk. When you are ready for bed, either I can go back to my room, or I can stay here and sleep on the sofa. Whatever you are comfortable with, I will agree to your terms.” I pulled her back and lifted her chin, so I could look into her eyes. “There is nothing to be afraid of. I will protect you until I take my last breath. I will kill the fucker that got you to this point. No one will ever hurt you again.” She nodded her head at me, and placed her arms around my waist, hugging me. Well, that is a great breakthrough. I gently placed my arms around her and hugged her back, placing my nose in her hair and smelling how great she was. I gently led her to the sofa and sat her down. “Sit here and I will grab us something to drink,” I told her. She nodded her head, and I walked over to grab a couple of waters. I
handed her one and sat down next to her on the sofa.

Chapter Twelve
“Would you like to watch a movie,” I asked her, “so you can get comfortable being around me. I will keep my hands to myself and respect any decisions you make tonight about us.” She nodded her head again, taking a sip of water,
“Well, if it is ok with you, I would like to change into something more comfortable. You can do the same if you like to,” she said, getting up and walking to the closet. I mind–linked Jack and asked him to bring my bag up to her room. I wasn’t planning on staying the night with her unless she asked me to. She walked out of the closet with a cute pair of pajama bottoms and a tank top and headed to the bathroom to, I presume, brush her teeth. There was a knock on the door, with Jack mind–linking me that he was at the door. I went and answered it, grabbing my bag from Jack. He smirked at me and told me to behave. Rolling my eyes at him, I shut the door and waited for Tovi to finish in the bathroom. She looked at me with my bag in my hand and smiled.
“That way I did not have to leave you to change,” I said. “I can take my bag back with me when I go to my room. Why don’t you pick out a movie for us to watch while I change?”
“OK, any type of movie you prefer to watch?” she asked, walking towards the TV.
“I’m not picky. I like a lot of movies,” I told her, walking into the bathroom.
“OK,” she said.
I walked into the bathroom and shut the door. I opened my bag and grabbed a pair of shorts and a T–shirt. After I changed, I placed my clothes into the bag and grabbed my toothbrush. After brushing my teeth, I walked out, and she was curled up on the sofa, with a blanket. She even made popcorn while I was changing. I am already falling for her. I sat down on the sofa
next to her, placing my arm on the back of the sofa, and waiting for her to play the movie. Tovi scooted over and cuddled up to me, pressing play on the remote. I gently placed my arm. around her shoulders and enjoyed the closeness that we were sharing right now. Deacon is
purring in my head right now. Tovi picked out an action–adventure movie, and we cuddled on
the sofa, enjoying the movie.
When it was done an hour and a half later, we both yawned, tired and worn out from the day. I
went to stand up and she stopped me.
“Can you stay with me?” she asked. “I feel so relaxed and calm with you next to me.” I shook
my head, yes and Deacon started to howl with excitement in my head.
“Mark mate tonight,” he said excitedly.
“Not tonight, Deacon. She is not ready yet,” I explained. I am happy that I get to stay close to
Tovi, letting her know that I will respect any decision she makes when it comes to us.

Chapter Twelve
“I can sleep on the sofa if you want,” I told her. She looked at me and got up. She walked to the bed, pulled the covers back, sat down, and patted the other side of the bed.
“Could you sleep next to me? I was comfortable and happy when I was cuddling up to you when we were watching the movie. I want to stay like that tonight,” she said.
I was excited when she asked me to come to bed with her. I had to keep Deacon and me under
control, not wanting to scare her right now. I crawled into bed with her, waiting for her to lie
down. She got comfortable enough to lie down, and I put my arm around her, pulling her close
to me. With her scent and being so close to me, I was able to get comfortable, and I fell asleep
with my beautiful mate next to me.

Looks like Tovi and Greg are getting comfortable with the mate bond. What will happen in the next chapter? I guess
we will see.
