“Sure enough, you’re jealous.
“Considering you’ve been with me for seven years, I’ll give you a chance. Come back with me, and I’ll let the past go.

My hand trembled as I poured the coffee. I swear, I was this close to throwing the entire pot of scalding hot coffee right in his face.
I wanted to see how thick his skin really was.
However, I held back. Going to prison over a piece of trash like him was not worth it.
Setting the coffee down, I pulled out a printed divorce agreement from the drawer and tossed it onto the table.
As the paper slid across the surface, I suddenly remembered how Henry used to do the same thing, throwing documents at me whenever he was displeased.
Anyone watching would have thought he had Parkinson’s.
Now, it was my turn. Damn, it felt good.
Henry’s brows twitched, but he still bent down to pick up the papers.
As he stared at the bolded characters on the divorce agreement, the arrogance on his face disappeared for the first time.
“Serena, you’re serious?”
I nodded.
“What else would you expect?”
His pupils shrank, but he quickly forced a laugh, trying to keep up his usual act.
“Serena, stop messing around. I know you’re just mad at Evelyn.
“Don’t worry. If you come back with me, I’ll cut her off completely. I promise.”
He sounded so damn convincing, like he really meant it.
Still, I did not care anymore.
Flipping to the last page of the agreement, I spoke calmly.
“I’ve already signed. I won’t fight you for any marital assets except the house under my name. In exchange, you’ll transfer me
fifty million. It’ll be a clean break.
“From now on, my son and I will never again disturb your pursuit of happiness.”

Í figured this was more than fair. He should be satisfied, right?
After all, as long as money could sever our ties, it was a good deal for both him and me.
Instead of agreeing, Henry’s face twisted with anger. He snatched the divorce papers and ripped them to shreds.
“I’m not divorcing you, Serena! You’ll never leave me!”
I froze for a second, staring at his bloodshot eyes.
Out of nowhere, a ridiculous thought hit me.
“You don’t mean you can’t bear to leave me, do you?”
The moment I said it, I nearly laughed out loud.
Henry fell completely silent.
He swallowed hard as though someone had torn away his facade. There was a flicker of guilt and helplessness in his eyes.
After a long silence, he finally let out a quiet, “Yes.”
I burst into laughter.
Tears welled up in my eyes from how absurd it all was.
“Henry, you want me?
“You actually want me?
“You want me back in your life?”
Henry pressed his lips together and reached out his hand.
“Don’t touch me!”
I smacked his hand away. My gaze was as cold as ice.
“You disgust me, Henry.”
His entire body stiffened. His face twisted in disbelief.
“Serena, what did you just say?”
“I said: you disgust me.”
Henry’s composure completely shattered.
“Serena, are you out of your mind?! How can you talk to me like this? You used to…”

“I used to love you, didn’t I?”
I wiped away the last of my tears and took a slow, deliberate step toward him.
“You’re right. I did, Henry. I really loved you.
“But I’m not a toy. I’m a person.

“What made you think you could take my love for granted? That you could hurt me over and over again, and I’d just take it?
“What made you think that after all the pain you caused, you could just say ‘I love you‘ and I’d come running back to you like a
fool?”
