Chapter 6
“What did you just say? What do you mean she lost her memory? You can forget about keeping your job if you keep spouting
nonsense!” Owen threatened.
Not far away, Owen let out a roar like a beast. He grabbed Jerry by the collar, his face contorted with rage.
But Jerry remained unfazed. “Mr. Gray, calm down. What’s done is done. Even if you tear this hospital apart, Ms. Houghton’s
memories won’t return.”
Owen’s grip loosened.
Jerry pulled out my medical records from his drawer, flipping to the page listing my medications. He told Owen that my current condition was due to the use of a specific drug.
And it wasn’t just this one–several other medications had been administered together, ultimately causing severe damage to my
body.
“After running tests, we also confirmed that Ms. Houghton has lost vision in her left eye. Her wrist has been overused to the point
where she can’t hold objects anymore. Even a phone is too heavy for her now.”
Owen’s face turned deathly pale. He staggered back a few steps before collapsing against the wall, his legs completely giving out.
“How could this happen? Vivian told me that she used the best medicine and had already cured Shannon’s hand and eye. That’s
the only reason I let Shannon work on the wedding dress! If I had known the truth, I would have never let her do it!”
A wave of overwhelming regret crushed him, suffocating him. Deep down, he had already suspected something after hearing
what I said earlier. But he had been too blinded by the comfort of Vivian’s gentle lies.
It was him. He was the one who had hurt me.
Jerry hesitated for a moment. “Did you say… Vivian?”
