Chapter 4
I fought back the sting in my nose, tilting my head up to keep the tears from falling as I turned to
Jonah.
“Do you not know that I’m pregnant? I just donated 400 milliliters of blood, and now you want me
to cook for Alice?”
The flattery on Jonah’s face quickly darkened. His tone turned impatient.
“Why are you making such a fuss? It’s just a meal. You’re acting so unwilling over something so
small.”
“It’s not like we had a choice. If you weren’t born under the Blood Moon, would we even need to beg you for it?”
“If the pack doctor had allowed it, I would’ve had them take even more.”
I stared at him in disbelief.
The tears I had been holding back finally spilled over, streaming down my face.
“So in your eyes, I’m just a walking blood bag? Then why did you make me your mate in the first place?”
A flicker of panic crossed Jonah’s eyes as he opened his mouth, seemingly to comfort me–but before he could speak, his phone rang.
Alice’s delicate voice came through the receiver.
“I feel awful, Jonah. Can Mia make me something to eat? I know she hates me. She doesn’t want me alive. She probably wishes I were dead.”
In the background, I heard my parents comforting Alice, followed by their harsh scolding of me.
“Alice, don’t cry. Mia will do it. If she refuses, I’ll kick her out of the Blood Moon Pack tomorrow.”
“Exactly! It’s just a meal, it’s not like we’re asking her to die!”
Jonah, now furious, grabbed a fistful of my hair and yanked me toward the phone. His eyes with anger as he snarled,
burned
“Tell Alice you’ll do it. Now!”
The pain was excruciating—I felt as if my scalp had been torn open. My entire body trembled.

The man I once saw as my salvation was now a demon, dragging me into an abyss with no end.
Despair consumed me.
“I’ll do it.”
“I will.”
I forced the words through clenched teeth.
Only then did Jonah release me, satisfied. He cast me a cold glance before walking onto the balcony with his phone, leaving me sitting on the floor in disgrace.
It was a long time before I finally managed to drag myself to the kitchen.
I hadn’t even noticed when Jonah returned.
He leaned against the doorway, watching me with amusement.
“Mia, you really are pathetic. If you’d just listened from the start, none of this drama would’ve been
necessary.”
I didn’t respond.
He had once loved me so deeply, cherishing me beyond words, unwilling to let me suffer even the slightest grievance.
I still remembered–there was a time when I had shifted into my wolf form and gotten into a scuffle with wolves from a neighboring pack.
They had charged at me, looking for trouble.
That day, the always gentle Jonah lost his temper for the first time. He even got into a fight with their Alpha right there on the border.
He had said to me back then,
“No matter what happens, I’ll always protect you. I’ll never let anyone hurt you.”
But now, the very person who had sworn to protect me had become the one hurting me the most.
There was no place for me in his heart anymore.
By the time I finished cooking, it was already past midnight.
I hadn’t slept a single minute.

Standing in the wreckage of the kitchen, I was alone in this enormous house.
Jonah had left early in the morning, taking the food to the hospital.
When the clock struck nine, I finally left as well.
Today was the day of my abortion.
At the hospital, I lay on the bed, waiting for the nurse to wheel me into the operating room.
The pack doctor hesitated before speaking.
“Luna Mia, are you sure you don’t want to reconsider?”
“No,” I replied. “I’ve made up my mind.”
He pulled the ultrasound machine closer. “Look, you can already hear the baby’s heartbeat.”
I was about to refuse again–but then, the rhythmic thump of the heartbeat echoed in my ears.
It was strong. Steady. Almost as if my baby was pleading with me.
Tears blurred my vision.
“My baby…” My voice broke. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t hurt this tiny life.
“You’re right. I’m not going through with the abortion. I’m going to keep my child.”
I could leave with my baby. I didn’t need to use her life as a means to make Jonah regret anything.
“I’m keeping my baby.”
The moment I spoke, the doors burst open.
Jonah’s parents stormed in.
“What baby? Stop lying!” His mother, Luna Grace, snapped. “Alice told us everything. That thing in your belly is nothing but a trick–a product of some deal you made with a witch! It’s not a true heir of our pack!”
I froze. “What?”
“Your child is a lie! The witch, seeking revenge on you, cursed my son and Alice, causing c to lose its heir forever!”

“Do you know what you’ve done? Alice was pregnant too, but because of the curse–because of you -she lost her baby!”

Jonah’s mother turned to the werewolves behind her and ordered, “Seize her!”
“No! I really am carrying Jonah’s child! Just look at the screen!” I pleaded, pointing at the
ultrasound.
“Enough with your lies!” Jonah’s father growled. “We’ll see the truth soon enough–once we remove that thing from you!”
He gave the command, and the werewolves forced me onto the bed.
A pack doctor approached, syringe in hand.
I struggled desperately.
“No! Let me go! I’m your Luna!”
I fought, but I was no match for them
The needle plunged into my skin, and the anesthesia took hold.
As I was wheeled toward the operating room, Jonah–who had been in Alice’s hospital room- suddenly caught a familiar scent.
A scent that belonged to both of us.
His steps slowed as he followed it, his instincts leading him toward the surgical ward.
There, through the glass, he saw a woman lying unconscious on a hospital bed.
Her face was partially covered by the blanket, but even so, the sight of her sent a violent tremor through his entire body.
His legs nearly gave out beneath him.
Panicked, he grabbed the nearest nurse.
“Who is that?!” His voice was raw with urgency. “What surgery is she having?”
He inhaled sharply.
“She smells like my child… Why is she in the operating room?!”
