Chapter 281 Tie Them All
Up
“Today, I’ll show you what real power and bullying look like!” William’s
voice thundered. “Denton!”
“Right here!” Denton’s voice rang out from a distance, and the next moment, he emerged from the alley, flanked by a group of men dressed in black suits. Each one was tall, broad–shouldered, and clearly trained for
combat.
When Renee saw this, her lips curled into a faint smile. Despite the earlier chaos, she hadn’t lost her composure.
“Sorry, I’m late,” William whispered in her ear, his breath warm against her
skin.
“No, you’re right on time,” Renee replied.
When Renee had first noticed someone tailing her, she had immediately sent William her location. At that point, she hadn’t known who had been following her, but after everything she had been through, she had become cautious, always making sure she had a backup plan.
If she had truly wanted to, she could’ve taken down every one of those people trying to attack her. But these were just ordinary people, and today’s ambush felt like it had been set up by someone with ulterior motives. Killing them would have been a bit over the top.
“Denton, tie them all up!”
At William’s command, Denton and his men moved with precision, surrounding the group in an instant.
The attackers had never experienced anything like this before. Their faces drained of color, fear gripping their features.
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
“This is a society ruled by law! You can’t just tie us up like this!”
“Even if you’re a powerful man, you can’t just ignore the law!”
A few of the braver ones shouted, while others were already trembling, their eyes welling up with tears. They knew all too well the repercussions of crossing someone like William.
But none of them had expected William to come rushing to Renee’s aid. Weren’t they supposed to have a broken marriage? Wasn’t their marriage some forced arrangement driven by Renee’s threats?
Then why did they look so affectionate toward each other now?
Denton stood tall, his arms crossed and a smug sneer pulling at his lips as he surveyed the frantic crowd.
He said, “Oh, so you still remember this is a society governed by law? A bunch of ignorant fools, defending your so–called idol. Do you even know where your precious idol is right now? She’s at the police station, getting grilled by the authorities. Want to know why she was arrested?”
Etta’s fans snapped at Denton’s words, their fury rising to a boiling point.
“You must have done something! What did you do to Etta?”
“Etta is such a kind–hearted person! How could you be so malicious?”
“Do you have any idea how hard she worked to become who she is today?”
“We’ll fight you to death!”
Their eyes burned with anger, and their voices were raised.
Denton shot a look at his men, and instantly, the black–suited men started
to move. These were no ordinary men; each one was a trained fighter- either a former soldier or a skilled fighter. It was easy for these men to deal with the frantic fans.
It didn’t take long before the group of fans was completely overpowered and restrained.
“Renee, what should we do with these fools?” Denton asked, his voice tinged with sarcasm.
Renee, still wiping the blood from her cheek, spared a glance at the group. Though they crouched in the corner, their eyes burned with a fiery defiance. They glared at Renee, each one seeming as though they wanted to tear her apart with their stares.
To them, she was the villain who had destroyed their idol’s life. And now, with news of Etta’s arrest, their anger only seemed to grow fiercer.
Denton, clearly irritated by the seething glares, strode over and delivered a sharp slap to the head of one of the men.
“What are you staring at? Keep it up, and I’ll make sure you can’t see with your eyes again!” he said.
